Korat's a funny place.

The forums over there have always had problems resolving there problems, theres supposed to of been death threats, forums hacked, emails hacked, the list goes on and its always amused me, how its always really just been about who had the most popular forum, Koratfarang.com was the original forum that was opened by roy(sportrider) he had enough of the shit so left the scene, the trouble was many members got involved in others feuds with others me included, there was witch hunts, friendships lost because of info gathered on certain persons, i got out of the shit because it was starting to go from silly to the absurd, just what lengths persons would go to just for the sake of a forums ratings, and its still going, the new person on the block now is my old mate ALFIE, who took over Thairainbow.org and fekked that forum up with his multiple nicks, and strange misanthrope values on how to run a forum, he closed that one down not so long ago, because well who knows, it had a no ban policy but dear Alfie found ways around that one.

Now Alfie boy Cloned Koratfarang.com and worked really hard at starting his new forum with his friend Sulsano, and they have had many nicks in this forum now called korat-farang.com

His new forum is somewhat a bit like himself, and some of his members that are Misanthropes,

Korats a small expat community but the hostility that goes on around the place is pretty scary to say the least.

If the feuds were about a commercial website selling stuff ok i could understand the competition but solely for personal feuds it beggars belief.

The guy who owns Koratfart has always been the instigator of many such feuds,it started with sportsrider, because he got banned from koratfarang, or it could of been he proposed a website for korat and sportsrider opened it, and was not happy.

Now the question is how long before Dear Old Alfie bites the dust.?

Could the feuding be an area thing ? From what I see and know of farangs within spitting distance of Korat they all seem to introvert types. I've give up trying to make friends around the area. I was a member on Koratfarang and the forum was okay as long as you didn't criticise the immigration office. I'm surprised they never had a 'Friends of Korat Immigration' forum. Now I'm on Korat-Farang and I can't stand that Sulsano tosser. He just comes over as a complete knob. Alfie comes over okay but the forum is young.

a M16 is a standard personal equipment that is issued by military (in most parts of the world) ;

recruits are trained on how to use them ; note that it is personal issued equipment and hence each M16 must be zeroed specific to the individual user ; you cannot shoot accurately if you borrow someone's else M16 to aim at a target at a distance of 100 metres; training also involves cleaning and maintenance ; without proper maintenance there is a risk that the rifle will misfire ; there is a safety lock which will lock the trigger in addition to firing auto ; IIRC a standard magazine can hold 20 bullets ; other accessories include (I don't the actual term) a aiming visor which improves accuracy normally used by snipers ; according to what I was told the accuracy of the M16 is 300 metres though one friend told that the range is between 500 to 600 metres

Proper equipment is required to maintain the M16 serviceable ; a cleaning rod, a brush, cloth, oil ;
Oil must be removed before using the rifle, and after using it, cleaning is necessary and oiling it to keep it serviceable

In addition to firing live rounds, blanks can also be used ; during training blanks are used simply to create sounds though it can cause damage within a range of 1 metre ; I hate using blanks becos excessive carbon is produced and cleaning the d@rn M16 is a pain in the lower back

Korat is indeed a peculiar place , and its farang based forums even more so. Some time ago I moved with my girlfriend from Chiang Mai to the out skirts of the city and thought I would seek advice about the local night life , pub's restaurants and farang owned businesses . Having seen the banner which is proudly paraded across its web site , proclaiming

KoratFart dot com - Nakhon Ratchasima and Isaan Forum for Art, News & Culture

The arts , news and culture statement caught my eye , so I thought I would head on over and take a look , well after taking my time looking through the forum , it became plainly obvious that the words Art and Culture had been used in jest or at worst a complete misrepresentation , the use of the word New's was in reality just used to describe the way that mostly non Korat related new's story's were repeatedly spewed out on a daily basis by forums owner and his few drinking buddies, to fill out an other wise empty forum. There were one or two forum members who it seems did try to lift the quality of the forums discussions , but sadly they were soon belittled and dragged into a slagging match with a few of the other long time regular members, who's only aim seems to be to cause trouble . One other thing that made me smile was the way that the forums owner seems to relish in constantly posting the forums rating figures and then proudly comparing them to another rival Korat farang forum, it does not take a brain surgeon to realise just how insecure the forums owner must be to go so low . So I decided not to join that forum which seems to be infested with pages of banal banter, personal feuds and regurgitated new's story's. I have now been resident in Korat for some time , and finally found my way around the city , one other thing that struck me was when I walk around many of the big stores , when I saw another farang approaching me I all ways offered a smile , but rarely does the other farang want to acknowledge me , totally the opposite to the , Hi how are you that I received in Chiang Mai.

one other thing that struck me was when I walk around many of the big stores , when I saw another farang approaching me I all ways offered a smile , but rarely does the other farang want to acknowledge me , totally the opposite to the , Hi how are you that I received in Chiang Mai.

I live in a small village on the out skirts of Korat , not that far away from the city centre , and I have met one or two foreigners who live right way out in the sticks , where its just too far to pop into the city , from talking to these people ,the daily boredom and the lack of having some one to readily converse with in your own language when you want , starts the frustrations and feeling of isolation to kick in. Many in that lonely outback world , look towards their friends Singha ,Leo and Chang for solace and support , for them some times its better to lean on the crutch of alcohol , and vent their frustrations out on a fellow forum member.

Amusingly enough, those who follow the number of "regional" Thai ex-pat forums closely enough, will find that they all seem to mirror one another....quite clicky and suppressed [in one form or another].....

There are many...from Udon to Surin, Korat to Phuket.
You'll recognize a number of nics a/o posting styles....as many punters cross-over for the amusement.

Spending a lot of time semi isolated from your own kind , your ears constantly bombarded by a foreign tongue you don't really understand and have no real interest in learning , I am sure does act in some ways as catalyst to disconnectedness . When you sit nightly at your computer , the door firmly closed trying to shut out the ever present racket being produced by the wife's favourite Thai soap opera, as you sit there facing the computer screen with a feeling of being alone , any interaction be it posting angry forum replys , to some is better than no interaction. When the wonders of an internet forum are of no interest to some farangs , then in most cases their current world is made in their minds a better place to be ,with the help of a bar stool and like minded people , as for homosexuality that's some thing I can't possibly comment on right now , until my case of gross public indecency has finally been dealt with .
