the US is a wonderful place to live, 1000% better than anything you will find here in terms of leisure and things to do, in particular CaliforniaOriginally Posted by JPPR2
the only problem with the US is the Americans and their obese wives, both spoil the wonderful experience the US has to offer
Good luck and best wishes for the future JPPR2, keep posting and please let us know how the transition works out and on the new life in California with your (Thai) Wife.
agree, Thailand is always fun in small dose, and it can get rapidly boring, unless you are into heavy whoringOriginally Posted by terry57
WHAT?!?!...Did I fall asleep and miss my own wedding? Did I pay sinsot too? FFS I hate that. I noticed my wallet was a bit thinner and my ATM card was gone...Originally Posted by larvidchr

I agree with this also but more annoying are the snobs IMHO. It is very superficial as anyone living there knows. But there is a medium you can strike you just have to be aware of it. But I will say this. If your entire life is built around co dependency and having a women in your life then that will always be a problem I guess. I like having a gal friend to share but not going to much deeper then that.Originally Posted by Butterfly
I am not going back to the US for a woman as I did not come to Thailand for one. I left single and am returning the same. I just like(and miss) the leisure activities as you noted.
They are soooooo great and you'll have loads of choice.Originally Posted by JPPR2

Did any of you hear the story about the closed down Molson plant in Barrie getting busted as a huge drug growing operation? Just Google Molson Brewery drug bust. Classic story of duuuhhh, we had no idea. Yeeeaaaahhh right.
California or Thailand? Yep, I would choose California to live, just too damn poor though
^ no Som Tam
^ ^ or bog roll on the dining table
^ when Thai people come to the west, they are often bemused as to why table napkins are available in the lavatories
I have often wondered why people will pay one price of white paper "Tissue" and 10 times the price for white paper "napkins"Originally Posted by nigelandjan

Speaking of things I have never understood;
Using toilet paper here to dry ones hands. The stuff falls apart as it supposed to.
Why is there always women cleaning the bathroom urinals when guys are pissing away
Never understood the "Always" back in program here with cars. But in the end I guess its a wash, depends on how you look at it.
And why is it that a country that hands out plastic bags for everything have little, to no, garbage cans to throw them away in?

Good luck and enjoy California.
You'll adjust back, but Thailand will not leave your system. You'll be on here as regular as clockwork mate.

I am sorry to hear that your year's stay has not persuaded you to remain in Thailand. Let's see how you feel after a year back in the US.
Happy trails to you and your girl.
and they aint 'bathrooms'
+1 What Terry said.
Good to see someone who is actually honest. If your world is built around Thailand then hairy muff, but, if you`ve no real ties, then I dont understand anyone staying there full time. Anyway, best of luck with your new adventure, and hopefully, you`ll have the best of both worlds.
I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong
I`ve been dragging my heels with a bitch called hope
Let the undercurrent drag me along.
So you're not actually that old then?
I'm not so sure Thailand is such a great place to retire in... somewhere to play in, but not much else for any length of time.
I hear plenty of good things about California... the cheap wine... the casual drink driving sound fun. =D
Cheers JPPR2. Enjoy your life back in California. I lived in the bay area for many years and would return there in a heart beat if my roots were not sunk so deep in Thailand.
