Another bow in life's experience holster mate and one you will use for the rest of your life.

Thanks for sharing your experiences with us and I hope your move back to the States is a smooth one.

the US is a wonderful place to live, 1000% better than anything you will find here in terms of leisure and things to do, in particular California

the only problem with the US is the Americans and their obese wives, both spoil the wonderful experience the US has to offer

agree, Thailand is always fun in small dose, and it can get rapidly boring, unless you are into heavy whoring

That can be fixed by entering via the Windows and deleting the registry.
All marriages will then be voided.

"I will also enjoy touring my Thai gal friend around as she will be traveling back with me."

Yes yes sorry about that, very important detail even with a thinner wallet and no ATM card it's still much easier to do a runner if needed.

I agree with this also but more annoying are the snobs IMHO. It is very superficial as anyone living there knows. But there is a medium you can strike you just have to be aware of it. But I will say this. If your entire life is built around co dependency and having a women in your life then that will always be a problem I guess. I like having a gal friend to share but not going to much deeper then that.

I am not going back to the US for a woman as I did not come to Thailand for one. I left single and am returning the same. I just like(and miss) the leisure activities as you noted.

^ when Thai people come to the west, they are often bemused as to why table napkins are available in the lavatories

    Speaking of things I have never understood;

Using toilet paper here to dry ones hands. The stuff falls apart as it supposed to.

Why is there always women cleaning the bathroom urinals when guys are pissing away

Never understood the "Always" back in program here with cars. But in the end I guess its a wash, depends on how you look at it.

And why is it that a country that hands out plastic bags for everything have little, to no, garbage cans to throw them away in?

You'll adjust back, but Thailand will not leave your system. You'll be on here as regular as clockwork mate.

I am sorry to hear that your year's stay has not persuaded you to remain in Thailand. Let's see how you feel after a year back in the US.

Happy trails to you and your girl.

    +1 What Terry said.

Good to see someone who is actually honest. If your world is built around Thailand then hairy muff, but, if you`ve no real ties, then I dont understand anyone staying there full time. Anyway, best of luck with your new adventure, and hopefully, you`ll have the best of both worlds.

So you're not actually that old then?

I'm not so sure Thailand is such a great place to retire in... somewhere to play in, but not much else for any length of time.

I hear plenty of good things about California... the cheap wine... the casual drink driving sound fun. =D

Cheers JPPR2. Enjoy your life back in California. I lived in the bay area for many years and would return there in a heart beat if my roots were not sunk so deep in Thailand.
