I reckon a more suitable venue for the forthcoming Australia vs New Zealand Four Nations clash would have been the old Wires ground "Wilderspool stadium"
, rather than the fine new Haliwell Jones ground.
Wilderspool, site of the Wires massacre of the Australian tourist in 1978, by 15-12, who could forget Alan Gwilliams late contraversial try to send the aussies packing.

Should be a bloody good game. The days when RL international tours were just an Australian romp (and a non stop piss up) are long gone. The recent game between Oz & England was a good deal closer than the scoreline indicated.
The Four Nations tournament reaches a mouthwatering conclusion this weekend when host England take on last time beaten finalists Australia at Elleand Road, Leeds, to carry the title "Four Nations Champions".
Pigs Arses overpower pommie barstewards to lift Four Nations title for 5th time in 7 attempts.

Darren Lockyer must be one of the greatest sportsman ever and we will certainly miss seeing him play now that he has retired.
Thanks for the memories Darren.
