no aussie has won the masters maybe today
Australians Adam Scott and Jason Day second in the Masters to South African Charl Schwarztzel
What happened to Mcilroy ?
80
Oh well he is a Brit I suppose . although no mention of that in The Sun today
It’s gory McIlroy as Charl wins it
RORY McILROY imploded at Augusta to hand the Masters title to Charl Schwartzel.
The Ulster star hit an astonishing seven over par on the back nine ALONE as he suffered a horror last day.
McIlroy carded an amazing treble bogey on the 10th on his way to a devastating 80.
MASTER BLASTER ... Charl Schwartzel
And South African star Schwartzel cashed in with a sizzling 66 to land the famous green jacket. He had a four-birdie finish at the Georgia course to pip Adam Scott and Jason Day to the season's first Major.
Schwartzel finished on 14 under par - six under for the day and two shots ahead of the two runners up.
Tiger Woods had been the talk of Augusta after his thrilling round of five under par had his rivals quaking.
But there was to be no fairytale for Woods and he was eventually shunted into a three-way tie for fourth with Luke Donald and Geoff Ogilvy.

There is one positive to take from this though
None of you Aussies will be crowing,
Another big stat. This is the first time since 1994 that none of the Majors have been held by an American golfer. Charl gets his Green Jacket in the Butler Cabin from Phil Mickelson. Always an uncomfortable few minutes that.
The wheels came off the lad from Hollywood on the tenth hole after a disastrous wayward drive that ended up between two cabins. He ended with a triple and it spiraled downward from there. I felt bad for the kid, he looked completely humiliated as he finished at 18. Tiger had a great day shooting five under par but it wasn't enough. Charl Schwartzel's six under 66 was one of the greatest rounds I have ever seen on a Sunday at the Masters.
There you go...........another Seth Efrican and holding one's nerve seems to be quite difficult when going into the last round in the lead.
Nothing wrong with 3 places in the top 5 finishes mate.Originally Posted by sabaii sabaii

I am happy to see anyone win no matter where they come from. The Ryder Cup and The President's Cup introduce an element of nationalism into the sport among fans which is to its detrement IMO.
I will give you that, but who came 2nd last year, without googling it,Originally Posted by Loy Toy

Felt bad for young Rory , but he still showed more class than the sulky fuker Woods in the post - round interview . I'd bet money on him overcoming & learning from this experience , and landing a major before Mr Roid Rage .
That aside it was one of the most exciting finishes at the Masters for a long time , and hats off to the Saffer for holding his nerve and finishing with 4 birdies .
And as we like to claim them as our own , it's worth noting that all 4 majors are currently held by European Tour players for the 1st time ever .
Tragedy as 21 year-old earns £78,000 for four days work
BRITAIN was inconsolable last night as a 21 year-old man was forced to collect the best part of eighty grand for poking a stick around a field.
Ulsterman Rory McIlroy carried the hopes of a nation as he went in to the last day of the Masters with a commanding four shot advantage. But the dream collapsed at Augusta's par four 10th when the meteoric youngster drove into the trees
After his catastrophic final round of 374, McIlroy said: "I don't know what I'd do if my job wasn't inconsequential and I had absolutely nothing to worry about."
The BBC responded to McIlroy's collapse by placing a black border around the screen and playing Barber's Adagio for Strings over and over again.
Meanwhile winner Charl Schwartzel said he will use his £880,000 prize money to buy back the missing letters from his name.
The thing I loved most about the Masters this year?
Jason Day's missus!!
