Great race. Not a Doohan or Rossi procession. Well done Rins

Alex Rins' win in Australia last week for Suzuki - just two more races and that's the end for Suzuki in MotoGP, and they've also pulled out of endurance racing.
Having returned to MotoGP in 2015 after quitting due to financial pressures at the end of 2011, Suzuki will quit the series again at the end of the current season.
Announcing this shock move back in May, the Japanese company – who will also end its factory involvement in endurance motorcycle racing – cited financial reasons and a change in market trends for its decision.
Rins will move to Honda in 2023 with the LCR squad.
Grand Prix of Malaysia - Sepang 2012
Back in time
After the 2011 event was cancelled on lap 2 (Marco Simoncelli died), we went back in 2012; this time, rain.
Moto 3 and Moto 2 were completed OK (well, almost, Moto2 was stopped with 2 laps to go), but the main MotoGP race was cancelled with six laps remaining due to heavy rain.
Winner that day - 1 Dani Pedrosa, Spain
2 Jorge Lorenzo, Spain; 3 Casey Stoner, Australia; 4 Nicky Hayden USA; 5 Valentino Rossi, Italy
Marco Simoncelli: 20 January 1987 – 23 October 2011
On the eve of the Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix, the event at which Marco Simoncelli lost his life last year, MotoGP riders, teams and people from the paddock alike paid tribute to the late Italian rider at the place of his tragic accident. On the concourse this mural was being painted throughout the day, and fans had the opportunity to sign and leave a message.
It was crash central during practice and qualifying, could make for a good race today.
Final race of the year Sunday November 6th and the title isn't settled yet.
The final race of the season, the Valencia MotoGP, is a shootout between Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Quartararo for the title.
Bagnaia leads Quartararo by 23 points in the MotoGP standings heading into the title-decider, having stunningly overturned a 91-point deficit.
Bagnaia will win the championship if…
- Quartararo doesn’t win
- Bagnaia finishes P14 or higher
- Bagnaia finishes P15 and Quartararo doesn’t win
Quartararo will win the championship if…
- Quartararo wins and Bagnaia is P15 or lower
The odds are clearly stacked in Bagnaia’s favour.
Points contenders for 1st-3rd:
Francesco Bagnaia 258
Fabio Quartararo 235
Aleix Espargaro 212
Enea Bastianini 211

Valentino Rossi will return to the paddock at the Valencia MotoGP in the hope of seeing Francesco Bagnaia secure the championship.
A year ago the motorcycle racing legend brought down the curtain on his famous career in Valencia but now could see a product of his VR46 Academy step into his place.
Bagnaia is aiming to become the first Italian MotoGP champion since Rossi in 2009, and the first from VR46 to win in the premier class.
The way the Marquez brothers keep crashing into other riders, well it wouldn't surprise me.
Race times (Thai-time) for tomorrow's final event of 2022
Gran Premio Motul de la Comunitat Valenciana
04 Nov - 06 Nov
Moto3 Race 17:00
Moto2 Race 18:20
MotoGP Race 20:00
Francesco Bagnaia
Valencia practice:
Marc Marquez was also clearly pushing the limits, suffering a fall in each session.
The first was a slow Turn 2 off in the morning, followed by a much faster lowside at Turn 1 in the afternoon.
“But it's the last race, a Spanish GP and I decided to take risks today.
I crashed two times and I will take risks tomorrow.
Maybe I will crash again.
And I will take risks on Sunday also because I want to finish in a good way.
Nice to see this thread has brought out some old posters.
This evening's top 10 starters
1 Jorge Martin SPA Pramac Ducati (GP22)
2 Marc Marquez SPA Repsol Honda (RC213V)
3 Jack Miller AUS Ducati Lenovo (GP22) +0.213s
4 Fabio Quartararo FRA Monster Yamaha (YZR-M1)
5 Alex Rins SPA Suzuki Ecstar (GSX-RR) +0.319s
6 Maverick Viñales SPA Aprilia Racing (RS-GP)
7 Brad Binder RSA Red Bull KTM (RC16) +0.418s
8 Francesco Bagnaia ITA Ducati Lenovo (GP22)
9 Johann Zarco FRA Pramac Ducati (GP22)
10 Aleix Espargaro SPA Aprilia Racing (RS-GP)
Reigning champion Quartararo must win with Bagnaia finishing 15th or lower to snatch the title away from the Ducati star.
Bagnaia:
“My thing tomorrow is not to win - just be calm, understand. I will take risks at the start to get a gap. But then just be smart.”
“I will just try not to be outside of the top 14.”
I’ll bet a wager he’s not 8th coming out of the first corner though.
Something strange happened. Delete.
If it was not for the Americans, none of these riders would have a clue to ride a bike on a road course. Wayne Rainey and Kevin Schwantz showed these clowns how to slip the rear wheel and to ride like a real man.
If Wayne Rainey did not break his back, Mick Doohan would have been a flash in the pan.
anybody have a link for the live stream? Usual sites a no go for me tonight. Thanks.
