didn't realise till last week how good SA's record v Wales is - one loss in over 100 years of internationals; makes the AB's record (3 losses since 1905) look poor. Though 1953 is a long time ago . . .

    Maybe in a fortnight?

It was an interesting combination of 1st choice, overseas based and a few débutante players. I was really impressed with some of the débutantes (the centre de Jongh scored a great try) and the experience bought by the overseas based players. The Bok brains trust are looking to establish a 30 man squad with depth for next years WC. I see then reverting to the 1st choice team against France on Saturday then experimenting a bit more during the 2 Italy games.

Just to put this result into perspective, SA played without the following 10 first choice players : Bismarck du Plessis, Bakkies Botha, Schalk Burger, Juan Smith, Pierre Spies, Fourie du Preez, Morne Steyn, Jean de Villiers, JP Pietersen and Bryan Habana.

It was on in the UN Irish, but I didn't take much notice of it unless the bunch of noisy yarpies got excited.

Can't blame you for that, I will admit to doing the same while watching the game (but just during the parts that Wales had the ball)!
