I'd like to see Roy open with Bairstow in the Ashes but i fear we'll see Vince for another four innings below 30
Roy has been top class.
Smith tries an over - 20 runs, 3 sixes...
Convicts have a wicket.
8 more for under 100 runs required.
We were excellent, can we now show how shockingly poor we can be?
God i love this game
Slaughter...
We get to beat the Kiwis in 2 WC finals this year...
Ruthless
Don"t blame it on the sunshine
Don't blame it on the Aus shite
Don't blame it on the coin toss
Blame it on the Dhoni
I just cant control my feet
First ever Aussie team to lose a semi.
Well you can borrow mine, losers
Its coming home!
A different class....
Who was it who said Enhland peaked too soon?
Kiwis hammered , the best team India whacked, Ozzies slaughtered
Suck it up you blurter loving, shandy swigging, Ozgolian sheep shagging, cheating Cuntos and see you at the Ashes.
Now that was a thrashing!
Bloody well played England...
Yep. Good win by the Soap Dodgers.
Bring on the Ashes!
For Australia,
... there will be time to look back at this World Cup, but on the whole it was a campaign that delivered about what was expected.
Australia played some good cricket, favouring its own style and juggling some problems with the make up of the squad, but in the end fell short of the absolute best in the world.
There's no real shame in that, but still some disappointment.
Everything went England's way yesterday. All round superb bowling, fielding, and then the batting. Fecking awesome., bring on the Black Caps!
Went down to the pub to drown my sorrows and there were 4 Poms drinking.
They were that happy they weren't whinging about the ice cold beer.
When 4 of the first 6 batsmen make under 10 each along with poor bowling they deserved to be flogged
by a better allround team, congratulations to the Poms,
I will be a cuzzie bro for the final.
It is so rare that English sports teams perform well against good opposition that it's a weird feeling today - Roy makes a huge difference to the team if he starts well and gets 50+; that'll be the same in the final.
To rub salt in the wounds, Root took Ponting's record for catches by a non-wicket keeper in a World Cup finals.
What a tremendous all round victory, even the convicts behaving like Pakistanis and conning the umpire to give Roy out couldn't take the sheen off.
Sets a nice marker for the Ashes, too.
Analysis
Can New Zealand beat England to win the Cricket World Cup final?
Despite England's erratic form throughout the tournament, the hosts will go into the final big favourites to claim a maiden World Cup title over the equally shaky Kiwis.
New Zealand stumbled its way into the final four — losing its last three group stage matches and being pushed desperately close against South Africa and the West Indies.
Who is the key for New Zealand?
Kane Williamson.
It would be wrong to suggest that New Zealand's batting begins and ends with the form of Williamson and his calm leadership. But not far wrong.
Williamson has had to step up after openers Nichols and Guptill have failed to fire thus far — and has responded by notching the highest average of anyone at this World Cup with 91.33, scoring 548 anchoring runs across eight innings.
Of the eight matches that Williamson has batted in at this World Cup, the 28-year-old has topped the scoring for the Kiwis four times and been second-highest scorer twice.
Rest is Here
The final is anybody's game.
We could do with a bit of this from Butler tomorrow:
Wake up you dopey soap-dodgers
Go kick Ant in the pants.
And so the CWC19 carnival culminates at Lord’s on an expected cool, cloudy but rain-free day, with it all on the line.
Could the Kiwi seamers take advantage of the lopsided Lord’s wicket to restrict England to below 300?
Boult, Henry and bustling quick Lockie Ferguson (18 wickets at 19.94) have bowled admirably and took advantage of favourable conditions to knock over India for 221.
But ... still favours the English top-order against them, especially if both teams bat on the same day.
England’s seamers also pose a daunting task for the Kiwis to gain an ascendancy over.
The Kiwis’ 6/239 was only their second-highest score this tournament (behind their 291 vs the Windies), whilst England has surpassed 300 six times (including against the Kiwis) and would have easily done so again against the Aussies and the Windies, chasing down lesser numbers with plenty of time to spare.
Weather ...
Lord's Weather Forecast and Pitch Report Today: Rain is predicted to stay away from Sunday’s final.
Bright sunshine is forecast in the morning.
Lord’s Pitch Report ...
The Lord’s pitch has favoured the team batting first throughout this World Cup, and the team winning the toss on Sunday can be expected to go the same way.
England have looked like a dangerous side when batting first.
In three of the four matches here in this World Cup, the side batting second has been bowled out.
Hmmm... Just got a message before that it's pissing it down at Lords.
Someone playing silly buggers maybe.
