Good cricket by England. After Woakes' three quick early wickets, Pakistan put on 140-odd in a good fightback. Some brilliant fielding; run outs and a great diving catch stopped them in their tracks though.

    Highlights:

And a pretty hostile reception they both received mate.

They reacted in style putting over 150 runs on the board between them.

Loy: yep fairplay won it well and if i'm honest good to see Smith back where he belongs, he's too good not to watch. For me they've done their time and hopefully a message has been received. Unfortunately, there's a load of dosh and threats going on the Paki/Bamg?Indian side which mens corruption is not going away. On another note its great to see Afg playing, i hope it gives a real lift to the country.

I don't have cable ... how did that game finish up?

Should be a great tournament in England.

How many countries have made the cut?

How many times was England lifted the Trophy?

That was just what England needed.

    Well, except for the injuries.

    What next...a metatarsalgate?

Australia set a par total but England contrived to throw wickets away with a succession of needless swipes. I doubt they were too bothered by the 12-run defeat.

Australia also threw away a few wickets including a stupid run-out and Smith being dismissed off a bump ball.

Anyway both teams will be competitive when the serious games start.

He’d hardly be umpiring a game between England and Australia if he was English, now would he?

No Cummins or Stark and they still bowled Eng out. In English conditions you don't necessarily need searing pace, medium pacers can be pretty effective, Although the Boult gun kinda put India to the sword yesterday. I think its not going to be easy to call the winner this WC

Love this quote from ESPN Cricinfo, Jason Holder teh Windies Capt who can't remember one of his players name, Ya Man Chill...

10.10am West Indies opt to field.

"Fresh wicket," says Jason Holder, "so want to make good use of it. The boys have played some solid cricket, prep is according to plan and we will try to take the form into the World Cup. Last chance to finalise XIs, and to get a feel of the conditions in England. Less wristspinners in the squad, but we make up with a few 90+mph bowlers. Kemar, Allen and another one won't play today. I can't seem to remember."

Looks like both warm up matches are going to be rained off, at this rate we could end up with a T20 world cup.

Aus vs Sri Lanka ... lead-up game to the World Cup.

    Aussies win by 5 wickets.

On that wicket I saw nothing from the Tea Picker Bowlers which would trouble the better world class batsmen.

Australia, tradesman like, sloppy in patches.

World Cup prediction? Sth Africa is a dark horse.
Maybe not the eventual winner, but will go deep into the Tournament.

Reckon NZ could create problems, its weird but spin seems to be a problem so far in English conditions

Everyone was saying +350 runs games, well that would be a good target the way its going. I think early predictions of batfests are inflated - reckon we could see movement and spin and hopefully close games. Eng not favourites imho.

England destroyed Afghanistan. I was expecting them to win with room to spare, but not that easily...
