I like positive thinking and all that but a bit of realism please Joe....

BBC Sport - England v New Zealand: Joe Root says hosts can chase 455 to win

It was a mammoth ask that has never been done before losing two sessions of play.... absofuckinimpossible in a day.....

Yes, please do turn up. I have a feeling A few of you might hand in sick notes or 'retire' rather than get mitchelled - but hopefully some of you will show some spine

A fair question, in the circumstances one would think

Like we say down here...yeah right...Cyrille has offered his considered opinion which makes sense considering the weather...I think McCullum would disagree

There is more than one way to get mitchelled Bob. Last time I checked Starc was smashing stumps with 150k + in swinging Yorkers at a pretty consistent rate = Even if MJ is not firing on all cylinders there is more than one way to mitchell a pom

Some great insights to what goes on in the mind of Alastair here ..

Did you know? Cook is afraid of snakes and has a recurring nightmare about being eaten by them.

The Aussies are so kind to their sports stars, the English are brutal. So he was a choirboy, so was I.

Also a lot of very impressive stats about his record breaking batting such as that superb run he had in the ashes in Australia In 2010/11 when he mercilessly made the Aussie attack look second rate at best.

766 runs at an average of 127.

But you quoted just that he had a fear of snakes.

    Funny that .

Joe Root duck!!! So much for the 455 chase. Kiwis level the series. The Baggy Greens are watching with interest.

Great day's play by the kiwi's,the bro's will be celebrating after a crushing win.
Good to see the Poms are still the masters of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

I think Ponting had a good year back then also. Ponting quit but what happened to the scaredy cat choir boy?? Is is because his weaknesses have been found out, or because we didn't have the good bowlers we have now back in 2010/2011 - that was the worst bowling line up we have had in an ashes for a long time. So what happened. Why was he averaging in the 30's with a strike rate of 40'ish for the past couple of years?? - I have a feeling he is going to get mitchelled this summer - he's prolly sitting on his tractor planning his sick note as we speak

'got cooked' - good one Bob! Did you think of that all by yourself!? - it's a bit easier for you guys though seeing as most of your top order have verbs for names. WTF is with that??

You are talking MJ Mark 1 - it's MJ Mark II who tore your team apart and single handedly humiliated your country.

That's a bit more recent history - you haven't conveniently forgotten about that have you Bob?

Because it was second rate at best. Hilfenhous, Siddle and a wayward MJ who was yet to be taken away by Dennis Lillee to have turbo charges installed

Numpty....At what point did they have this game in the jaws of victory?

How long did it last? About an hour after tea as I predicted?

Not sure what match you were following. Perhaps you don't really understand what that expression actually means.

Well done to the kiwis, who certainly didn't deserve to lose this series. It's the seventh in a row they haven't lost. Shame England's next opponents in proper cricket will be such polar opposites in terms of sportsmanship.
