Saudi Arabia hammers Thailand

JEDDAH — Akram Aslam and Faheem Afrad grabbed three wickets each as Saudi Arabia beat Thailand by six wickets in the ACC U-19 Elite Cup in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Saturday.

The Malaysian Cricket Association under the auspicious of the Asian Cricket Council is organizing the championship.

Put into bat Thailand could score only 53. S.B. Wani was the highest scorer with 11.

None of the other batsmen could reach the double figure mark.

Saudi Arabia, however, gave away 19 extras.

Aslam, a talented left-arm spinner who was named the Man-of-the-Match, claimed 3-6, while Afrad had 3-7.

Saudi Arabia lost its first match to Afghanistan by 10 wickets Friday. Batting first, Saudi Arabia put on 166-9. Afghanistan overhauled the score without loss in 31.4 overs.

Saudi Arabia next takes on Hong Kong Monday.

Saudi Arabia is in Group A along with Afghanistan, Hong Kong, UAE and Thailand. Group B comprises Nepal, Qatar, Bahrain, Malaysia and Kuwait.

Jesus this latest Aussie team is worse than I thought, the batting in yesterday's ICC trophy match was appalling.

Thai cricket is screwed, they get loads of money from the ACC and most of it disappears into the ether.

The best Thai cricketers come out of Chiang Mai and they have to beg steal and borrow to get any of the money that should be funding the development of Thai cricket.
