    Boxing - upcoming fights

ok, I have Taylor beating Pavlik - Taylor was ahead on the cards, ahead in skill, and had a virtual knockout before getting iced. This time Pavlik won't be so lucky. Pavlik has few skills - just a great chin and a powerful right hand.

Enzo Maccarinelli I pick over David Haye - Haye seems a bit of a over hype to me. But it could easily go either way. I want them both to win, as the loser will have an unfair setback to his career.

Calzaghe vs Hopkins (Ole Popkins) There is just no way Hopkins has a prayer. Will the American crowd and the vetran's wiliness work against Calzaghe - nope. There is just no way even a spoiler like Hopkins is going to beat Calzaghe.

Valuev vs Laikovich - not a fight high on many people's radar. But I have Laikovich out working the slower giant Valuev for a UD in a boring fight.

I've found that I don't have much interest in boxing anymore.

Muay Thai is so much more available and relevant.

I have swung across onto the mixed martial arts band wagon.

no way back for boxing i don't think.

Agree about Calzaghe, pity he hadn't fought and beaten up Hopkins in his pomp.

I remember when they used to say that the Heavyweight Champ was the most famous man on the planet.

Now they have approximately 50,000 Heavyweight 'championship' belts and a bunch of nameless/faceless nobodies wearing them.

Shit, I was hoping to see one scheduled between The "Mighty ANT" and the "Limey Noodles" in a no time limit, to the death match, Gutter rules prevailing bout.

I just watch whatever is on true Sports 2, they have a lot of shit boxing from the 80's and 90's with some bloke called Al, it's pretty good stuff cos a lot of the fights are total mismatches so you get some good knockouts, also have some fat people... saw one fight where both fighters were knackered by the second round.

I watch the MMA when it's on, but it's a bit hit and miss and too many repeats.

Pavlik and Valuev won - makes me 0 out of 2 so far.

Much as Ibragimov is to be admired, Klitscho will beat him up in the later rounds.

Haye and Macca will be an absolute slug fest with both being reknown for being hard hitters with somewhat suspect chins. Haye though for me as he has been in with the far superior quality fighters and has learnt a lot since his defeat against Thompson. Hopefully, staying at cruiser won't drain him too much and you have to take your hat off to him for not swerving this fight againt a very very dangerous fighter. Going to be a blinder.

10 years ago I would have put my house on Hopkins beating "English Joe" but age has caught up with him. Although he is still a defensive master class Calzaghe will throw too many accurate punches and win on points by a few rounds. Don't think it will be quite the walk over everyone is expecting but he will win in my opinion. Although not a heavy hitter the way he picked his punches against Kessler was class. Just a shame he never got these big fights a few years ago hey Mr Warren?

Can't argue with you on this one CB....I'd have Calazaghe beating Hopkins over the distance. With Hopkins you know what your going to get....a messy fight with him trying to bring the opponent down to his lavel.

As for Haye against the italian Welshman.....I can see Haye winning this one if he's not too careless.

I saw Haye v Carl 'Cat' Thompson at wembley arena a few years ago and Haye knocked the cr@p out of the cat for two rounds, The cat came back in the 3rd and knocked Haye out. Haye can hit really hard and should win if, as said above, he's not to careless.

    Born in London. FACT

And always great bait to get the Taffy's biting.

A great, great British boxer and just a shame, as he openly admits, that he was born a few years too late to take on Eubank, Benn, Watson etc. when in their prime.

Haye punched himself out in those first two rounds and tried to get Thompson out early. Thompson however was a far too wily cat (pun intended) to fall for that and covered up and then took his chances when Haye was blowing out of his arse.

I honestly believe that, that fight taught Haye an awful lot and made him the fighter he is today. His recent fight against Mormeck where he got up off the deck to beat him in his own back yard showed how far he has progressed.

Think Haye will actually try and use the same sort of tactics against Enzo in this fight.

    Anthony Mundine is DA MAN!

Aussie Anthony Mundine, aka The Man, has retained his WBA super middleweight world title for the third time with a decisive, unanimous points decision over Nader Hamdan.

Anthony Mundine. The only Australian boxer to elicit cheers all round the country when he was KOed by that German dude. Mundine is a great boxer for sure, but unfortunately he is a professional (Aboriginal) victim, arrogant to the extreme and generally the type of fellow normal Aussies wouldn't want to associate with.

He burnt a few bridges with the Yanks when opened his big mouth spruking pro Al Qaeda rants after 9/11. He wont ever get a fight in the USA against the top fighters over there. So he is really just a home country hero. He has always picked his opponents well to ensure he wins. He really is something of an embarrassment to most Aussies who value humility.

I'd of thought then that the WBA would want a credible champion holding their belt. Someone who can challenge Callaghaze (spelling) perhaps.

    Welcome

Co-promoter of BSI Promotions Eamonn Sadler promised to produce a boxing contest in Jakarta that would rival those of Madison Square Garden and Las Vegas. ...
