    Fishing in Thailand

Now there is nothing more peaceful than a day at the river bank with your fishing rod in hand, well apart from being in a nice aircon room down soi yodsak with a couple of gals and a copious amount of booze.

In the Uk I used to do a bit of the old fishing but never really excelled at it, but here they got these fishing ponds for the old catfish, the only trouble with that is you have to buy what you catch and then eat it, I used to give all the ones I caught to a beggar that used to hang round the bus stop in south Pattaya, those ponds they used to rent you a bamboo pole with some fishing line tied to the end and a cork as a float, half kilo fish using 20 kilo line, not really sporting.

Anyway now they got some proper fishing places where they don't let you eat your catch, you get to use a proper rod and reel, and they got some monsters in there, here's a picture from uncle sams fishing park, the guy that caught it didn't even bother weighing it as he said it was too small, fok i've never caught a fish that big.

But now I just goto eat and drink at the fishing parks and let me son dream of the day he catches some monster fish.

I really don't think I would want to catch one that big. I mean how do you kill a fish of that size? you would have to beat it to death.

    These ppl arrange fishing holidays

Giant Catfish Fishing. Normally, you don't really associate the land of giants to any Asian countries. You, typically, associate that to Africa in case of animals (like the elephant, hippopotamus and rhinoceros) or America in case of animals (like the grizzly bear and the moose). Actually, the land of Asian giants here are not land bound. They are lake bound. They are found in Thailand; part of the Southeast Asia peninsula. Here, in Bung Sam Lan Lake are where the giants are found. Bung Sam Lan is one of the most extraordinary fisheries in the world. It is a lake of about twenty acres, which was converted seventeen years ago from a swamp. It is stocked with a huge variety of native Thai and imported fish: Giant Mekong Catfish from 15 kg to 100 kg +, Striped Catfish from 5 kg to 15 kg, Chaophraya Giant Catfish from 2 kg to 30 kg +, Giant Siamese Carp from 20 kg to 100 kg +, Amazonian Arapaima from 110 kg to 200 kg +, Pacu from 2kg to 9 kg, Giant Snakehead from 4 kg to 15 kg, Rohu from 2kg to 10 kg, Small Scale Mud Carp 1kg to 10 kg, Hoeven's Slender Carp (1 kg to 8 kg), and many more Thai species. The Mekong Giant Catfish are originally a species found living only in the Mekong River. Hence, that's where the name came from. These fish have become know as the real giants of the catfish world. Pound for pound these fish, embarrasses other catfish species into submission.
    look at this bugger.

Bung Sam Lan lake seems the place to go for the biggies.

If you love to catch fish and would love to catch some of the largest and most powerful fish in the world then we can set you up with fishing so good that you will think that you are dreaming. In fact its better than a dream it happens in real time and it will happen.

This fishing is in Thailand which is an extremely friendly and safe country to visit with terrific inexpensive shopping, wonderful cheap food and exotic nightlife for anyone who wants it. The destination is perfect for anyone wanting to combine the excitement and glamour of a capital city with relaxation on a lovely beach. If your partner does not want to go fishing with you to operate the camera or video then what better place than Bangkok with so much to do including sight seeing of the Temples, visiting the magnificent Grand Palace, shopping, river cruises etc.
We have teamed up with the infamous Jean-Francois Helias who is probably Asia`s best known and respected fishing guide who runs a highly professional fishing operation based in Bangkok. In fact his guiding operation is the best we have ever used anywhere in the world. Fish with the acknowledged EXPERTS for the Giant Mekong Catfish or giant Siamese Carp and other huge fish.

For anyone wanting to catch huge fish but who has limited time to spare perhaps because they are on a family holiday or they are only in Bangkok for a day or two then we can get Jean –Francois to take you to Bung Sam Lan fishing lake which is only about a 30 minute drive from downtown. It is virtually unfindable on your own but is probably the best fishing lake in the entire country. It is AWESOME and we GUARANTEE that you will hook many big fish here.
    here's a 47 kilo carp....

Fancy a spot of sea fishing

You don't need to be an expert angler to enjoy some of the best sport fishing to be found anywhere in the world. Some of our previous clients have never been fishing before and have caught Sailfish, Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Wahoo, Shark and Jackfish. All Sailfish, Marlin and Shark are released back into the waters after catching.

All our fishing trip are private on a large, very clean and well kept boat with experienced captain and deck hands. There is plenty of room to sunbath on the upper deck or relax in the large 2 story cabin. She is equipped with the latest electronic equipment including GPS and radios along with rafts, lifevest and other safety gear.

All fishing equipment, live bait and lures are provided and the deckhands will take care of attaching the lures and baiting the hooks for you. You will be given a safety breifing then shown on a map the areas that we will be fishing and the type of fish that is likely to be caught in each area.

We will troll using different type lures both large and small with up to 12 poles before lunch anchoring at a beautiful island with crystal clear water near a sugar white sandy beach. Snorkeling equipment will be provide to explore the reefs filled with colorful coral and fish. Lunch will be excellent food and fruit served family style. Since all out tour are private you can take as long as you like enjoying the bay swimming before trolling again in the afternoon.

    Fly fishing in Thaialand

    The Latest Tropical Fishing Challenge

Here in Thailand the Pla Shado or Giant snakehead fish has a legendary strength .
We are speaking about one of nature’s mistake, a fish that should not be found in freshwater,
in fact his nickname in Thai is: “chalam nam tcheud” meaning: ”freshwater shark”.
    What about his lifestyle?
Breaks rods, stretches hooks, cuts 40lbs braided wires and finally tries to bite you when practicing catch and release you take the hook off his mouth.
Powerful caudal and dorsal fins allow a mouth fully equipped to slash his preys on the strike.

The Giant snakehead attack is breath taking. When caught, he will dive deeply and rush to the nearest weedy spot then you will need all your skills to boat him.
Those qualities makes him the sport fish most search after in South east Asia.

Fly fishing for Giant Snakehead is not an easy game. Caught only by few fly fishers from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand
the fish own the reputation of almost impossible to catch on the fly.
    Why?
Because, sight casting is difficult as the fish like to ambush in deep water among weeds waiting for fish to pass at his level or other preys on the surface of water.
Streamers and others baitfish patterns are difficult to bring into play considering the dense vegetation.
Therefore the use of poppers looks appropriate but the Giant Snakehead is very smart and most of the time he will follow the popper for few feet without striking it.

We know that the fish have strong sense of smell and are often caught with chicken intestine or baby mice.
Most of our catches happened on early morning and late afternoon when the weather was cooler and in low light conditions.
During spawning Giant snakeheads form couples to guard the nest then fingerlings. At this time of the year, for the period of the monsoon
(June to August), Giant Snakeheads are very aggressive and provide a great opportunity for fly fishermen to encounter the stunning predator.

I used to love to go fishing in the UK get up at 4am to be at the park by 5am with at least twenty ready rolled joints - be finished smoking them and rolling fresh ones by 10- 12 am - smoke all day until it got dark then try and find your way back home

My mate has a fishing park over here in Chacheongsao - we fish and another one of the lads cooks it all 0 last time he cooked enough to cover six sheets of the BKK post on the floor - thats a lot
