Max takes pole and Antonelli pips Piastri for P3. Lewis misses the cut in Q2.

Norris and particularly Piastri are in a different league this year. Zak cheekily mentioned that they might end up having some exciting racing but Lando couldn't get near him.

I think even if they had ended up racing, Piastri would take Norris every time.

George got the better of Mad Max, and Albon and Antonelli had a great race.

Ferrari continue to confound the drivers with imbecilic team management. I think they need a new team principal tbh, one who understands racing and who can not only makes the right decisions, but make them at the right time.

Whinger Spice made an arse of himself trying to make it look like it wasn't just Mad Max trying to snitch on George.

    Excellent race.

Next we have a European triple header.

    • Result - top 10: Piastri, Norris, Russell, Verstappen, Albon, Antonelli, Leclerc, Hamilton, Sainz, Tsunoda

They are just constantly fumbling about. The incompetence is staggering.

    Lewis's sarc was hilarious.

"Do you want me to let Sainz through too?"

Emilia Romagna GP Qualifying: Top 10

    1) Oscar Piastri, McLaren

    2) Max Verstappen, Red Bull

    3) George Russell, Mercedes

    4) Lando Norris, McLaren

    5) Fernando Alonso, Aston Martin

    6) Carlos Sainz, Williams

I'm not sure if the word "upgrades" translates well in Italian.

More Ferrari misery on home soil

Ferrari hoped upgrades to the rear of their car would put them closer to the front but both drivers were eliminated in Q2 for the first time this year.

Utterly shameful performance from Ferrari. Some axes need to fall there.

Great win for Mad Max, clearly their upgrades work, and Sir Lewis did well to get into 4th.

But not having a tyre that can do more than 11 laps for LeClerc, especially when they went out in Q2?

    What a shit show.

And I still don't understand why they would use a VSC instead of a safety car. It absolutely helped Mad Max.

Agreed on both counts. Max is said not to have the best or even second best car out there but that early overtake was special and once he is ahead the others seem unable to keep up.

Is it certain now that we'll not see another F1 at Imola? That would be a shame.

    Monaco Quali

    1) Lando Norris, McLaren (Newest lap record)

    2) Charles Leclerc, Ferrari

    3) Oscar Piastri, McLaren

    4) Lewis Hamilton, Ferrari

    5) Max Verstappen, Red Bull

    6) Isack Hadjar, Racing Bulls

BUT.... Ferrari just can't stop fucking up. They told Sir Lewis that Mad Max was on a slow lap when he was on a flying one, so Sir Lewis may get a grid penalty for impeding.

Disaster for Mercedes too as Kimi crashed in Q1 and George's car stopped in Q2.

In a vague attempt at making the dullest race of the season interesting, they've added a mandatory pit stop this year, so it's at least a two stopper for everyone.

For me, all the Monaco interest is in the qualy sessions and yesterday was good. Cunning strategy from McLaren in Q3 to go out early, everyone thought they had run their laps then they stayed out for another go and Lando absolutely nailed it.
I watched the F2 yesterday. Thirty laps of nothing.

Lewis Hamilton has been slapped with a three-place grid drop for Sunday's Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix after impeding Max Verstappen in qualifying.

And only last week he was praising the improvements in communication!

    As the stewards put it:

The driver of Car 44 expressed his displeasure at the incorrect message from the team immediately after the incident.
Probably get another grid penalty for swearing.

The F2 race got off to a good start. Half the pack out at Turn 1.
Sometimes F2 is more exciting than F1.

Monaco isn't really a race. It is simply a party.

The Williams TP essentially admitting on radio that he didn't like having to fuck up everyone else's race but the rules let him.

This shambles lays squarely at the feet of the FIA.

And a 30 second penalty for not doing two stops is a joke - as they pointed out, Mad Max could have taken that and still come out where he was.

George's only regret would be that he didn't take his penalty sooner, not that it would have made much difference.

    Absolute waste of fucking time.

The piss takes of Mad Max are hilarious.

    "Angry taxi driver"
"I do that in Mario Kart"
    Etc.
