This seems to be quite a big event at Laem Sing beach this weekend. . . I'm biking that way later this morning expect they'll l be having practice runs today

Used to be annual 1 January longtail racing here but that stopped for Covid and hasn't happened again, this is next-level boat racing

Apart from roadside billboards and Facebook, haven't seen anything else in the way of promotion for the weekend's event; guess those who need to know, know.

At a more local level, the weekend after - 2-3 March 2024 there is longtail racing on the lake at Wat Khamong, amphur Tha Mai.
I missed it last year, and wasn't held the two previous years; these are the smaller longtails (not the Toyota engined ones) and race 6 at a time on an oval circuit

It's the 50th anniversary of the release of The Man With The Golden Gun

No practice permitted today, have to wait till tomorrow for my dose of noise and fuel fumes

Stay away from the Germans, it could get messy.

I've watched two events of this type.

One in Wales in the 70s, and one in Abu Dhabi about 12 years ago.

At least with motor racing there's a decent chance of them driving into something and causing themselves serious harm.

Watched two races each day - starting on the hour and limited shade that was enough, head for aircon and took the opportunity to try out two new cafes on the coast

More boats, this time two days of racing on the lake at Wat Khamong, far less formal (ie generally disorganised) with no apparent timetable, delays when one boat was ready and five were not at the start line yet. Enjoyed the racing and food on offer, and a good turnout for the temple fair.
