Who do you think is the Greatest Footballer?
Who do you think is the Greatest Footballer?
Eusebio (sp)
And Haaland might get up there as a goal scorer
ALFREDO di Stefano - not Alberto...
Ronaldo.
Dodgy hairstyle in the world cup final not withstanding.
What is the criteria and what position, I don't mean missionary like my fan club adopt
I'll add but not exclusively hendrick cruyff
A point of order if I may David.
The question is: Who is the Greatest?
The question asks for a single person, so why is the poll multi-choice?
I think I've been rumbled by a supra squirrel grammar expert.
If I were to ask people who is the greatest poster it would obviously be you only one choice
If however I were to query who is the daftest person to bother posting I could add several to my own moniker doncha think?
This is not a fist among sequels as its avers on the barking seal of our American cousins so it is possible to have two or more winners.
For example If we were measuring intellect and SA LD and TX were to draw level at 120 for instance?
IMO, footballers, as with all sportsmen, can only be compared to others of the same time period.
^ exactly imagine Messi or Ronaldo trying to dribble with a wet medicine ball
I can't believe there is no option for Colin Gibson or Ralph Milne.
I've gone for Best. I never saw him play, but my dad regularly did.
He hates him as a person, but he raves about him as a footballer.
Not sure
Progressive improvements are compared over vast spans Bob Beaman's long jump record lasted decades. Each new Marathon champ compares to history that is how they gain not merely a Victor Ludorum or Gold medals but become an Olympic, FA or F1 holder.
While nowhere near Buffon or Yashin Banks or C rai Utd keeper I was probably a finer keeper than Messi is ever likely to be being a foot taller in the sole position where height rather than ball skill is paramount.
Tell me the last time you saw a stumpy goalkeeper in a footbll game, sure a goal tender in ice hockey needs no height advantage as the players don't head the puck?
Really great players like the above, and I omitted Beckenbauer , Cruyff Puskas Ferenc, do play against the younger generation with Ronaldo and Messi almost double the age of some the fresh faces.
Its only a bit of fun awaiting the real games
There are so many players who are up there though.
Dragan Stojkovic, the current Serbia manager, used to glide over the pitch. Along with Bryan Robson (and pre injuries Gascoigne), he was probably the greatest midfielder I saw.
Zidane as well.
There is a pretty insane stat about their goals conceded over 2 or 3 seasons together. Something like 97 games played, minus 5 goals conceded.
I remember a real stat before the Real Ronaldo got on the scene, about Maldini, when Maldini had won 5 European cups.
There were only 2 clubs that had won the European cup more times than Paolo Maldini. One of them was AC Milan.
