So many armchair experts here. If the young lads had taken the penalties you'd all be claiming Southgate was a master tactician and genius.
He gambled and lost, simple.

Like roulette really. He gambled on black, no going back.He gambled and lost, simple.
Where England will beat a few minnows, the it's coming home joke will start yet again on the back of those wins, the open-air bus ticker tape parade route to show the trophy off will be discussed, then some nation that can actually play while light them up 4-0. The only difference being if English supporters start throwing kicks and punches at opposition supporters while in Qatar, they'll wish they were never born.
Fewer posts with the poster ignoring the obvious benefit of hindsight?
He's right - if Maguire had missed it would have been 'You can't tell me that a centre half is one of our best five penalty takers!'
Possibly from me.
And I have to admit, Headworks has a point. A small but vocal minority of England supporters are embarrassing in defeat and absolutely cringeworthy in victory.
Sorry but these players are world class internationals and I really don't give a fuck how old they are, when you're joining clubs like Man U for £78 million you should be trusted to take a pen, be it the first one or the decider.
Of course, there is a world class goalkeeper standing there ready to piss on your chips.
Supporters playing the black card and turning into a bunch of racists though...
... Priceless.
Lang may yer lum reek...
The Italians are some of the most racist supporters in the world.
I wouldn't say we have racial issues in Scotland.
We rip into everybody equally.
Historically reflective of all things European.
It seems to me the whole thing is being blown out of all proportion. A few boofheads, either out of frustration, racism or both, play the black card. The whole country comes down on them like a ton of shit- rightfully so. Royalty, the PM, top football clubs, the media- you name it. The law is on it too. Good.
If anything, it demonstrates the average brit deplores racism. Good, that is as it should be.
