As far as I'm concerned we have at least 3 World Cups and a European Championship to our name.

not sure if this is the place ornews, mods may relocate

The Islamic State has threatened terrorist attacks at four stadiums during the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, according to the SITE Intelligence Group.

A day after the French Interior Minister outlined the plan in place to secure the opening ceremony and the Paris Games in general, jihadists have circulated images via affiliated media outlets such as the Al-Azaim Foundation and Sarh al-Khilafah, one of which shows a masked man holding a rifle with the caption "Kill them all", listing the stadiums hosting Champions League matches this week.
On Tuesday, Real Madrid take on Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabéu, while Arsenal FC and Bayern Munich meet at the Emirates Stadium. On Wednesday, Atlético Madrid host Borussia Dortmund at the Civitas Metropolitano and FC Barcelona visits Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes. The end of Ramadan on Tuesday will see the usual escalation in jihadist threats.
The Islamic State threat spans a "hot" spring and summer, highlighting security concerns for two major European sporting events: the UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany from 14 June to 14 July and the Paris Olympic Games from 26 July to 11 August.

    Barca are back.

Or on the way back, at least.

3-2 away to PSG with 16 and 17 yr olds starting from La Masia. Not to mention the rest of the young graduates in their team.

There's something about a team that creates its own talent rather than buying the next big things for truckloads.

    Lads, it's not Bayern.

Making it about United, which is normally what Liverpool fans do, I have a story.

I went to this game in the semi finals of the Champions League when Ballack was still playing for them

Didn't get a ticket and stayed near the ground on the piss after countless fruitless attempts to get in.

It had kicked off before with United and a load of East German hoolies who had come over, but they seemed to have disappeared by the time the game kicked off and I watched the game in some bar near the stadium.

Anyway, it was sickening when Solskjaer missed that and I fancy we would have beaten Madrid in the final, but it wasn't to be, so I headed back to Cologne, which is a great city, for a night on the piss.

It was a bank holiday in Germany the next day if I remember correctly and 2 pints in I'm getting into the swing of things.

Next thing it kicks off again outside - right in front of the pub - and a load of United chase this German lot out of the square. All the customers scattered, but I foolishly stayed and ordered another pint.

Next thing, the bar closed and the police swooped and arrested everyone there!

They eventually put us on a bus, drove us around Cologne for 3 hours, took our names and addresses and finally let us go at 5am in the morning. I had a flight back from Amsterdam at 5pm so couldn't have gone out even if I'd wanted to.

One of the worst football nights of my life that was and why I'll always think of Leverkusen negatively.

I got stuck on Munich station after the Forest Malmo cup final in 1979. Group of us missed the last train back north.

German bird in the station refreshments took pity on us with free Bockwurst and potato salad when she closed for the night. Slept on station benches.

Translation: All the moaners were cowering in the bars scared to go outside, so the police cleared the square and escorted the snowflakes out for their own safety.

You know that's the real version, innit.

I slept in Munich airport on the way back from Vienna in 1996.

Had the flu too and was fucking rotten.

One of the many good things about Germany if you're killing time are the kinos in the red light areas near the stations.

    Always something to, um, watch.

We got refused entry in Amsterdam when United played Dortmund in 97 cos we didn't have tickets for the game!

Couldn't believe it, but they put us on the next flight back to Manchester, so, as soon as we landed, we booked to Brussels on my mate's credit card, which he said we could max out and use to pay for the trip.

    He then lost it.

We landed in Brussels and got stopped at passport control cos Interpol had put us on a watch list! Me! On a fucking Interpol list!

They put us in a room and wanted to know why we had been sent back from Amsterdam. Then they let us go!

But we had next to no money so broke open the doors of an office block and slept on the stairs there. The air hostesses on the plane had taken pity on us and given us a load of bread rolls and butter so that was what we ate!

Jibbed the train and when we got to Dortmund, they had a bit of whip round for us so we could have a drink.

A lad from Preston - dead now from the drink - gave me a pass back and I got in the game! Then some other lads from Ireland let me stay in their hotel room- a fucking 5*!

By this time I'd lost my mates, but at the station the next day some lads from Salford put a bit of money in my pocket and bought my train ticket and, for the first time in 2 days, I was able to eat a hot meal and have a drink!

    Oh, and we got beat.

I really should have a thread for stories like these...
