Maguire is quality - he just does stuff that other players cannot.

The treatment he's received from the press and the ABUs has been bang out of order.

Forgot the player, think of him as a human being.

He's not good enough to start for the greatest club in the world and he isn't good enough to start for England, but that's not the point.

We all know that it wouldn't be happening to him if he didn't play for the greatest club in the world.

I suspect paying 80m for someone who's worth a tenth of that now at best, and turning down a 20m bid for him, before his value plummets further after disastrous displays for his shit club and England, is the bigger source of mirth.

    Complete bollocks.

Absolutely nothing to do with the 80 million paid and whatever fee it was the club would receive (it was 30 milion agreed with West Ham by the way).

It's all about humiliation for the man and grinding him into the dirt because he plays for the greatest club on earth.

Does Havertz get the same treatment? Does Mudryk? Does Enzo Fernandez?

Of course not. Because nobody gives a fuck about your shitty little clubs.

You know it. I know it. We all know it. The world is obsessed with Manchester United and speaking/writing about our players puts bread on the table.

He gets more abuse because he's English and at a "big" Premiership club.

The English press are counting down the days until Foden has a bad game and will jump on him like a rat.

No, he has to be consistently shit for that to happen.

Maguire has been rubbish for his club for a long time, and any sensible England fan is wondering what the fuck Southgate is doing still picking him.

Last night should be the final nail in his international coffin.

Then the Moaners should do the decent thing and let him go back to Leicester on a free.

    .
He's been poor for club, but has generally been very good for England.

There is only one thing Harry Maguire can do to end his Manchester United ridicule - Manchester Evening News

"From a Scotland's fans' point of view, I get it. I've no complaints about what they did. It's a consequence of ridiculous treatment of him for a long period of time," said Southgate when asked about Maguire after the game.

"Our fans recognised that there might be a bit of heat from our own supporters but we're not having it from others getting into him. It's a joke. I've never known a player treated the way he is, not just by Scottish fans, but by commentators, pundits, whatever, they've created something beyond anything I've ever seen.

"He's been a stalwart for us, part of the most successful England team for decades. He's been a key part of that. I've spoken about the importance of the senior players, he is crucial to that.
"Every time he goes on the field, the resilience and balls he shows is absolutely incredible. He's a top player. We're all with him. I feel very strongly about it. He's good, he's great. He's been a big part of that win."

Southgate is a level-headed manager but he understandably lost his composure. He said the treatment of Maguire 'makes him livid' and it's reassuring to see the player continue to receive the backing of the England manager.

There have been loud calls for Maguire to lose his England starting place over the last few years and they have been justified. His performances for Manchester United have been poor and not deserving of international selection.

If Southgate picked the England team solely based on club performances then Maguire wouldn't be near the side, but what must be taken into consideration is the centre-back has been outstanding for his country in every major tournament.

United fans have seen Maguire at his worst and England fans have seen him at his best. He hasn't put a foot wrong for his country and he was named in the team of the tournament at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and again at Euro 2020.

His performances for England have been colossal and that's why Southgate has shown him unwavering loyalty. Maguire has repaid that faith and he certainly hasn't deserved to become a scapegoat on the international stage.

And the hardcore England fans recognised this at full time last night.

Nobody gives a fuck about City, so it won't happen.

Southgate played for England at Wembley when the whole stadium was singing "stand up if you hate Man U."

    He knows the score.

The poster replying to your shit made more sense:

⚽Erik Ten Hag identified that Maguire wasn't suitable for the style of football he wants

⚽He then took him out of the team to accommodate Varane and Martinez

⚽Maguire at the end of last season was stripped as captain

⚽Man United and Maguire both knew it was time to part ways

⚽Maguire was offered the move to West Ham which he was willing to accept if Manchester United paid him the difference between current wages and new wages as lump sum, this was rejected

⚽Harry Maguire chose money over first team football as he decided to stay at Manchester United

⚽I felt that if he had of moved to West Ham then we could have seen the Harry Maguire which got him the big move to Manchester in the first place due to their style of play

⚽This is where Southgate has become frustrating - Maguire is the one who chose money over playing, which has led him to getting no playing time

⚽Southgate continues to defend himself and Maguire for picking him and the mistakes he makes

⚽Southgate is making the problem worst not the media/pundits and journalists

⚽He is choosing to go against what he said when he took over that he will pick players on form and they need to be playing

⚽If Maguire had moved to West Ham and was playing, then keep him in the squad

⚽But don't blame everyone else when you have manifested this problem over the last 18 months

⚽This will be the same story every time the international breaks are on

⚽Surely there has to be realisation that Maguire needs to be dropped until he sorts out his club football and actually stop thinking about his weekly wages and start to play his way back into the England team

Maguire is a twat. He should have moved to West Ham where he would have got a big salary and a decent pay off from Man U too. But, the greedy fuker wanted a full pay off from Man U and a ridiculously high salary.

Now, some folks may say that's his entitled to his Man U contract running down to the end. Well so be it. But, then don't complain when: 1) fans call him out for being the useless player he is; Man U don't play him because he's a liability; when his contract does run out, I hope he gets paid (weekly salary) for his level of play at Man U - which will be about half, or even a third, or what he currently gets.

Man U accepting 30 million from West Ham and paying off most of his contract (they may even have been partially supporting his wages? Not sure...) is decent by them - they want rid of the useless fuk. But, Maguire was more interested in getting every penny because he's an entitled twat. Fuk him. He's an average player and deserves all the stick he gets. I do not give a fuk about his emotions because it was in his own hands to move to West Ham, a good club thatwould suit his playing style, and rebuild his career. Maguire is a wanker...
