Quite an unbelievable situation, practice sessions are due in Melbourne today.
Reliable sources are reporting that the Australian Grand Prix will be delayed/cancelled, yet nothing from the governing body as of Friday morning, just a few hours before the gates are due to open.
McLaren have pulled out due to one of their team testing positive to the virus.
Yeah pretty much all the teams have said they don't want to run basically forcing a cancellation.
Now officially cancelled.
Be interesting to see if they go ahead with Bahrain. The track is out in the desert and it's easy to keep spectators away.
Hanoi, of course, is a street race, so it must be in doubt.
Red Bull boss casts doubt on Bahrain Grand Prix
Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner has raised doubts over next weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix following the cancellation of the Australian event.
Speaking in the paddock following the announcement, Horner suggested the fate of the Australian event now casts doubt on the Bahrain race.
“I think it’s fairly inevitable that if we’re not racing here we won’t be racing in Bahrain,” Horner said in a media scrum which included Speedcafe.com.
“That’s yet to be confirmed, I believe, but it’s difficult to see how teams will be able to (race).”
Horner’s comments come after he revealed that a meeting late on Thursday evening ended with teams in favour of running on Friday.
“There was a majority that were in favour of running and doing more screening today in the event of any more outbreaks,” he said.
“That obviously changed following the meeting, with teams changing position, and so the promoter really had no choice but to cancel the event.
“So the important thing now is to make sure that we get all members of staff home safely.”
There are also concerns surrounding the Spanish Grand Prix as the Catalunya region, within which the circuit resides, introduces measures to restrict mass gatherings.
The Bahrain Grand Prix is scheduled to take place from next Friday, on March 20-22.

Carey: F1 situation remains fluid, can’t call off Bahrain GP yet
Formula 1 boss Chase Carey has refused to call off the Bahrain Grand Prix in the wake of the cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix despite having less than a week until the race begins.
Carey oversaw the 11th-hour canning of the 2020 F1 opening round which was announced at Albert Park two hours before the scheduled start of first practice. The race was thrown into jeopardy when a McLaren team member tested positive for the coronavirus which triggered the instant withdrawal of the team from the race.
Carey, who had been in talks with Vietnamese GP officials over its situation regarding its coronavirus preparations, flew into Melbourne on Friday morning to oversee the official cancellation of the Australian race amid confusion with several F1 teams turning up to the paddock having been told the schedule was unchanged and there had been no official decision on the race.
The day before F1 reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton said he was shocked at the sport continuing amid the worldwide coronavirus crisis and felt “cash was king” became the key reason keeping F1 on track at Albert Park.
“If cash was king we wouldn’t have made the decision we did today,” Carey hit back.

I'm pretty sure they'd prefer to come second again and get another gazillion dollars.
Thailand super series has announce Vietnam F1 has been postponed.
Hanoi was round 1 of the season for them.... will be interesting as I think they were also using Hanoi to border bounce a lot of the cars that compete in Thailand that need to exit the country every 12 months.
In a way i find it sad that i fail to give a shit about F1, failed to do so for over 10 years now. Its just fooking dull. Sorry.
