    England V Russia - 12/09/2007 20:00 GMT

Following a comprehensive win over the Isrealis last week, the English take on the Russians next at the new Wembley, in what could be a crunch qualifying match. Losing doesn't bear thinking about, although mathematically England would still have a chance of going to the Euro championships next year.

Should we play Crouch instead of Heskey?

Apparently Heskey played really well against Israel (but Israel are Conference standard at best), but I was watching the men play rugby, so I don't know for sure.

^I would say Heskey plays better than Crouch, but then Crouch scores the odd goal, whereas Heskey doesn't.

Try Heskey once more against a better standard of opposition if he doesn't live up to expectations then sub him....but not 10 mins from the end. I think Crouch is the better player & dare I say 'refined' The opposition never seem to be able to know what to make of him & he does score more than the odd spectacular goal

There was some good skill shown on Saturday but I didn't notice Heskey produce any of it. He blasted a sitter over the bar & at this level that is unacceptable.

Play Crouch. He's not much better but as has been said, he gets the odd lucky shot.

I think we'll do the Russians.

    I watched the first half.

England looked pretty comfortable, except for when the Russians scored a goal which was wrongly disallowed for hand-ball.

Owen and Heskey linked up very well, with Heskey doing an excellent job holding the ball up. If only he knew where the goal was, we would have another Alan Shearer. Owen was very composed for both his goals.

The new boy Richards did very well in defence. In fact, the defence worked well and played for each other, covering and filling in any holes.

    A good win.

    I watched the second half.
Am I the only one who thinks Wright-Phillips is a waste of space.
In 45 minutes he did fuck all but lose the ball

I thought Wright-Philips had a good game. He certainly has the pace, and was found back in defense on more than one occasion. In fact the whole midfield looked good. They've all got goals in them, just waiting for Gerrard to slam one in from 25 yards.
The likes of Rooney and Lampard are gonna have to work hard to get on the bench.
Lets see what happens in Russia on that plastic pitch.
