The reigning Champions League holders get their group stage campaign underway as Real Madrid host Sporting Lisbon hoping to become the first team to defend the title.
No team has managed to retain the Champions League since its 1992 inception, but Madrid are one of the pre-tournament favourites to lift Europe's premier trophy for the 12th time in Cardiff next May.

Its not the same this year wihout pedigree teams like United, Liverpool and Chelsea being replaced by Leicester and the other 2 unknowns who finished 3rd and 4th
