World number one golfer, Scotty Scheffler, arrested, ahead of PGA championship.

    LMPD, making Louisville, proud, again!

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- World No. 1 golfer Scottie Scheffler (Scottie Scheffler (United States) Golf Profile - ESPN) was arrested by Louisville Metro Police on Friday morning after trying to drive into the entrance of Valhalla Golf Club, the site of this week's PGA Championship.
Traffic outside the golf course had been stopped after a man was struck and killed by a shuttle bus around 5 a.m. ET.
Scheffler faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. The assault charge is a felony; the others are misdemeanors. Scheffler was released at 8:40 a.m. ET and headed to Valhalla. He arrived less than an hour before he was scheduled to tee off at 10:08 a.m. ET.
Scheffler's attorney, Steven Romines, said it would be up to Scheffler whether he plays today in the second round.
According to ESPN reporter Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident, Scheffler was trying to drive around the crash scene on a median. A police officer instructed Scheffler to stop, but Scheffle
r continued to drive about 10 to 20 yards toward the entrance.

Quite bizarre that some jobsworth copper would fuck up the World's number one golfer over something so trivial.

He spent 70 minutes in lock up and it had to have affected his round.

Not sure about that. Other reports indicate he didn’t stop due to confusing directions, the copper grabbed his car until he stopped, then dragged him out of the car and cuffed him.

It sounds like he was told to proceed by an officer on traffic detail and the jobsworth didn't get the message.

"Assaulted", he fell on his arse hence "second degree".

What a load of pointless shite from some jobsworth twat.

Hosting the PGA championship, is estimated to bring in $80 million, to the city of Louisville. Fat chance of Valhalla hosting another PGA event, anytime soon.

The Mayor’s office is reporting that the arresting officer’s body cam was not on, during the incident.

I got into a skirmish like that once on my way to work in the USA. Accident plugging an intersection and I thought the copper standing in front of me waved me along. I was wrong. He just went ape-shit when I started moving and must have screamed at me for 5 minutes. Then I had to sit there as he glowered at me. No tickets and no cuffs however.
