all the best islanders are poached by the all blacks aren't they? they might have a chance of they (somoa, fiji, tonga) joined up but it doesn't seem to be on the agenda

I heard that O'Driscoll was spouting this sort of nonsense in an interview the other day.

Name one All Black of the last 15 years who was poached as a proven rugby player able to represent one of the island nations. Someone who comes to New Zealand as a 5 year old doesn't count.

perhaps "poached" is too strong a word bob....but the gist of it remains. the good islanders invariably end up with the all blacks to the deteriment of the home island nations.

We did this one before somewhere, and Bobcock is right. I think there was only one of the current ABs that came from the Islands who hadn't grown up in Kiwistan.

fair enough then. still....if the all-blacks lost their players of islander descent back to their fathers/mothers countries it would be a fair blow.

perhaps ireland should try to annex fiji or somoa?

In fact, it is true to say that Samoa has poached various New Zealanders of Samoan origin.

Wales are one of the worst poachers around.

None whatsoever. Although if it makes you feel any better I have a WC '07 shirt (black, obviously) that my wife brought back from France, and an All Blacks WC cap that a friend got me in Australia.
