^The Pom's would never go for that. With good weather, 5-0 whitewashes are genuinely in play down there.

At least you lot can look forward to the Kiwis putting 50 points on you at Eden Park this weekend... :)
Four rain draws and losing the series by one test isn't a bad result; we were unlucky.
Two problems:
1/ I'm half Irish, half African, half Jewish, so what happens at Eden Park this weekend is of no consequence.
2/ My countries of birth could have won the last 10 WC's, be undefeated in all that time winning by at least 50 points every outing, and I still would not give a flying fuck about it as I do not and can not watch Rugby Union. Absolute cvnt of a game...
A tad harsh, Hw...
Rugby is a great game although if the Convicts were to beat the glorious English in this year's World Cup then I would have to stop watching the game forever... Here is a picture of a great man:

The Ashes: What impact will the rain-soaked first day at Lord's have on deciding the series?
https://teakdoor.com/attachment.php?a...id=36256&stc=1
All the hype. All the expectation. The Home of Cricket, all that stuff. Then the rain.
A washed-out day, a sodden crowd, a display of suitably British stoicism and suitably Australian disregard for the elements, watching a lengthy and skilled performance of synchronised groundsmanship.
Australia v England at Lord's
- Australian Stats ...
- Won: 15
- Lost: 7
- Drawn: 13
- Last win: 2015 — by 405 runs
- Last loss: 2013 — by 347 runs
- Form: WLLWW
With extended sessions on the subsequent four days, we could lose as few as two sessions in the match. For one thing, BBC statistician Andrew Samson noted that the last seven Tests worldwide where the opening day was lost still produced results.
Perhaps it just inspires teams to hit the accelerator when they do get out there.
For another, none of the past eight Tests at Lord's have gone for more than 350 overs.
That's less than four days of cricket.
Apparently the fifth can be done away with.
Then even if some predicted briefer rain breaks in the next few days erode more time, four of the last eight Tests at Lord's have lasted less than 270 overs, or three days in total.

I heard that, because the Toss wasn't taken, hence the game wasn't begun (or something along those lines) the follow-on is reduced to a 150 lead.
Can anyone confirm that?
Ok in lieu of any cricket being played till later - hopefully - let's briefly talk about why Union is shit. I gamble on sports often, and want to see clinical when my team / players are in action. Watch Rory McIlroy shoot 62 in a final round to win a tourney without hitting barely a single shot anywhere besides where he wanted it to go, carding 3 Eagles and 4 Birdies, and finishing bogey free, that's clinical. Watch Melbourne Storm dismantle oppositions over 80 mins with barely an error in that period, completion rates of about 90%, missed tackle and penalty counts that are almost zero, and playing the game faster in the last 10 minutes than they did the first 10 despite being up by 20 points while the opposition wish the full-time siren would just hurry up and sound, that's clinical.
Watch the best Union team in the world (AB's) win a game and by full-time they will have dropped the ball cold 10 times, thrown 8 forward passes, given away 15 penalties, constantly left gaps in the defense you could drive a fucking bus through, miss about as many tackles as they make (especially 1-on-1's), and the body language tells you that they're all completely comfortable with this as it's just the way that game is. That's not clinical, it's a cluster-fuck and the only reason they win so often isn't because they're so good, it's because they're less shit than everyone else!. Don't even get me going on their lack of fitness, which is surprising in itself considering they spend about half the game with hands on hips waiting for the 30th penalty kick to be taken or the 20th scrum to be fed for the 3rd time .
It's just fucked!.
^ very harsh indeed. Although, the ABs forward pass numbers were accurate (maybe a bit on the low side...).
The cricket might be starting soon, and you'll probably have us bowled out by lunchtime. :( You have to understand the English better: we invented lots of sports and are now crap at them. But, rugby union is one of the few sports that we are competitive in, we sometimes even win stuff - at least let us have the rugby union! We have recent (ish) success:

It's in B&W ffs...
^I must keep missing the part where it flows. Has anyone ever timed a game to see how long the ball is in play vs how long it isn't?. It's not as bad as NFL obviously, nothing beats that circus without a tent for stoppages, but Jesus H there's a lot of time spent where nothing's happening.
Toss in half an hour (although KW has probably already started due to his efforts on the Bali Convict thread... :) ), then kick off, I mean first ball, in an hour or so. I prefer to watch us bowling, but we'd have a better chance if we bat first...
Rugby Union is a very fine game, here's a great video of flowing rugby to watch:

^I watched some of that Vid and can't help knowing that good NRL Fullbacks, Centers, and Wingers would have shut down most of those tries before they even got started. It's just a totally different game with totally different individual skills to what I'm use to watching, which is why pretty much any NRL player who switches to Union is a walk-up start for the National team (Tuquri, Sailor, Rogers, Hunt, Folau, and Koroibete come to mind straight away) where as there'd be not one Wallaby who'd be any chance of code-hoping and playing for Australia. Anyways, you enjoy your sports and I'll enjoy mine :)
Meanwhile, back at the Cricket ...
... and Josh Hazlewood is into the XI, meaning Mitchell Starc is 12th man, with James Pattinson having a rest.Quote:
Coin toss
Tim Paine has won the toss and Australia will bowl!
Joe Root says he would have batted as well.

What's a decent first innings for England?
I would have thought anything approaching 300 would be great.
For the Aussies, 3-65 @ lunch ... sweet :)
2nd over, Hazlewood to Roy, 3rd ball
OUT :) nicked it through to the keeper
England are 1-0 ... or for Jackmeoff ... 0-1
EDIT ... thought it was Root who got out :34:
1 wicket down
Fuk me... I said Roy shouldn't be in the team - why don't the bloody selectors listen to me??? He has never been and will never be a test player; he is an aggressive one-day specialist. Bastard...
We'll have lost this test match before lunch...
Yeah, we have a weak test Thailand for sure...
