Thread: 11 year old girl makes golfing history

Eleven-year-old Lucy Li, the youngest qualifier to ever tee it up at the U.S. Women’s Open, dressed for the occasion in an American themed red, white and blue outfit.

Li held her own at Pinehurst No. 2 except for three bad holes. She wound up with an 8-over 78. That put her 11 shots behind the early leader, two-time major champion Stacy Lewis.

Yeah I'm wondering if that's her new clothing line coming out too? She is a little a pistol though, quite impressive, they just keep getting younger and younger. As a parent, besides dedication, I wonder how they're able to motivate a child to that level of perfection and still make it FUN for them to play?

Children always like playing but at that level of play it's more practice and repetition and constructive criticism then it is actual playing and that's the hard part to overcome..

Stacey Lewis, the top US pro who has two kids of her own was quietly critical of how a kid that age spends her time. However she does seem a very happy kid and has a beautiful swing. You don't get a swing like that starting at 16, and she won't lose it.

I'll make a note of looking next time...if I can take my eyes off her legs...that may be why she wears such short skirts...have you seen her playing on TV?
