Ice Man has lost his last 2, he's light heavy by the way.

Couture beat Gonzaga last time out.

From what I've seen of Fedor, bloke loks totally unbeatable.

Tyson could've fought MMA? Some fantasies die hard.

Most of this lot would get knocked out in my local boozer, never mind by Iron-Mike Tyson.
You say MMA fighters would be knocked out by the guys in your local boozer. Are you deliberately trying to lose all credibility on these forums, or is making ridiculous statements just a habit of yours?

“People are forgetting Mike would not be restricted to boxing moves”?

    That is genuinely funny!

No one is forgetting Tyson wouldn’t be restricted to boxing moves. That is exactly the point we’ve been trying to make: Tyson only knows boxing moves. Get it? He is/was a one-dimensional fighter. He wouldn’t have any other moves except in the fantasies of the poster who wrote those words. Let’s say he ‘charges’ at a wrestler—surprise!—the wrestler just ducks under, grabs tyson’s legs, and takes him down, keeps him pinned down while pounding the *!*& out of him. Tyson would be humiliated in an MMA ring, just as Tyson’s heavyweight predecessor, Berbick, was. It’s probably a good thing Tyson never tried to fight MMA, as he’s had enough humiliation already. He beat up prison guards? Wow, now there’s a bunch of world-class fighters. Besides, it’s probably hype anyway—and beating up prison guards doesn’t qualify you for the UFC. Beating up prison guards qualifies you for boxing and the world of Don King (also a ‘guest’ in prison if memory serves).

But…but…IF Tyson were to have spent some time with trainers who could have taught him MMA, then maybe he could have been a contender. But I doubt Tyson would have had the mental tenacity to learn MMA. You have to really focus, learn a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle moves, countermoves, strategy and learn multiple martial arts. You have to be able to stay focused for long periods on complex tasks as opposed to hitting a heavy bag all day long. As you say, Tyson was an ‘animal.’ Animals can succeed in boxing but not in MMA. MMA requires intelligently trained fighters. Heck, Tyson couldn’t even stay focused on boxing as he spent so much time “partying”, throwing his money away and later rotting in prison. Tyson an MMA fighter? Not!

Still, I do confess I’d like to see Fedor strap on a pair of boxing gloves and step in the ring with a younger Tyson under, yes, boxing rules. Alas, that will never happen. We can only imagine the brutal beauty of THAT fight. Of course, if a younger Tyson were to exercise his death wish he could have strapped on a pair of MMA gloves and stepped in the ring with Fedor under MMA rules. The outcome of that for Tyson would have been a long stay in either the hospital or the cemetery.

You seem to think these guys are the hardest on the planet. They're not. They might be tough, but they are not genuine hard men. They would likely last all of five seconds against any special forces maniacs or anyone similar.

You sound like a bunch of kids discussing which Pokemon has the best special ability.

Who's TUFer? Evans Fights Bisping at UFC 78 Options: Email Article | Printer FriendlyWednesday, October 03, 2007
    by Sherdog.com Staff

For the first time since the inception of SpikeTV's "The Ultimate Fighter" in 2005, winners of the popular reality show will square off in the Octagon when Rashad Evans (Pictures) fights Michael Bisping (Pictures), the UFC announced on its Web site Wednesday.

Evans, who took TUF 2 with a decision win over Brad Imes (Pictures) in a heavyweight fight, and Bisping (14-0), the season three light heavyweight winner after stopping Josh Haynes (Pictures), will meet Nov. 17 in Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center.

The 28-year-old Evans (10-0-1) last fought to a draw against former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz (Pictures).

Bisping, also 28, retained his undefeated status on Sept. 8 with a controversial split decision win against fellow TUF 3 veteran Matt Hammil.

The UFC was considering changing the rules and word has it that Tyson was ready to join if they would allow ear biting.

RL, If you are talking true "no rules" then many street fighters could take anyone. And, for that matter, ANYTHING can happen in any street fight anyway. You can get stabbed, your ear bitten off, your eyes gouged, etc., etc..

We're talking about an organized sport, and in the respect, single disciplined trained fighters ALWAYS lose in MMA. It's the same as Brazilian Jui Juitsu only, or boxing only or whatever.

I am willing to accept that. You must need a wide variety of skills to succeed at this game.

It's just hearing people (not yourself, granted) write-off what was undoubtably the most brutal fighter on the planet, capable of knocking out any man in the world with one punch, as some sort of ponce who wouldn't stand a chance against the likes of those pin-up pretty boys.

It reminds me of that film, The Karate Kid.

^ Yeah, well, I'm with you in this "real life" respect. Put me in a bar, in close quarters, with not a lot of room for kicks and other things, and give me lightening speed punches from an Ali or Iron Mike, and it's lights out baby for just about anyone.

Special forces 'maniacs' tried & failed in UFC

    .
Don't you read the posts? Special forces 'maniacs' have already tried their hand in UFC etc and gotten CRuSHED. One in fact, was the elite of the elite: a trainer of hand-to-hand combat in the special forces. He lasted all of about 5 seconds.

And, yes, anything can happen in a 'real' fight. Put a blade in my hand and I promise you Tyson will find it planted somewhere in his body if he threatens me with his hands. Just ask Alex Gong the great K-1 fighter who saw someone stealing his car in San Francisco, ran out to confront him, got shot by the thief, and died.

But we're not talking about fights like that. MMA is, as someone else said, an organized sport with special rules and qualifications.

Tyson would be good for the box office, though. People would love to see him get tossed around the ring like a sack of potatoes…or hear him say “Ow!” as his arm is broken (snapped!) in an ‘armbar’ submission (they way Tim Sylvia’s arm was broken by Frank Mir—you could see the bone break in slow motion!)…or watch Tyson gag for air as he loses consciousness in a triangle choke or rear-naked choke.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't do gay porn.

Joking aside, I'm going to leave this thread to you guys, as it's not really my thing.

I suspect that was hyped-up a little, to be honest. Good for ratings & all that.

Don’t bring your fists to a knife fight (or a steel pipe fight).

Below re Trevor Berbick from Wikipedia. (Berbick is the one ran from the MMA ring after being kicked in the legs by Takada.)
“On October 28, 2006, he was murdered at a church in Norwich, Jamaica by an assailant wielding a 2 inch thick steel pipe. He suffered multiple blows to the head which resulted in him dying at the scene of the attack. [2]

“A 1980 upset of ex-champ John Tate (9th round KO) secured a title shot against Larry Holmes on April 11, 1981, but he lost a 15-round unanimous decision. In his second fight after the loss, he beat Muhammad Ali to secure his place in history as the man who finally ended the career of "The Greatest".

“In 1982 he beat undefeated red hot prospect Greg Page, and in 1984 he moved to Miramar, Florida and signed with promoter Don King. Wins over undefeated Mitch "Blood" Green and David Bey scored him another title fight, and he won the WBC world heavyweight title by upsetting Pinklon Thomas with an easy unanimous decision on March 22, 1986. However, his reign as champion would be brief.

”On November 22, in his first defense of the title, he was knocked down two times in the second round by 20-year-old Mike Tyson before the fight was stopped by referee Mills Lane, resulting in a second round TKO loss. Again, he made boxing history--this time by being the man who Tyson defeated for his first heavyweight title, symbolically bridging the eras of Ali and Tyson, as fight commentator Barry Tompkins said after the knockout: "And we have a new era in boxing!"

^ Thanks for reminding us of Larry Holmes, really the best "Ali-Style" fighter in recent history. He was also beautiful to watch, like Ali.

still having major problems retaining any sort of ratio on there.

Downloaded Ultimate Fighter 6 - 3 yesterday in about 20 minutes flat.
desperately trying to give back but there are 270 seeds and 7 peers.
I sometimes connect to a single peer and can\t give back much more than 3 kb/s.

Might have to start tacticaly downloading stuff I don't want if there is a good chance of making ratio from it.

i think those sites must be rigged. they give you more upload if you donate cash and boot you...eventually...if you don't. it's just so hard to seed as you said...even if you eave the file there for a week it never gets over 0.3

i'm just gonna sign up new nics from a proxy if i get booted (a bit like here )
