Michael Bisping Discusses Controversial UFC 75 Victory, Requests Rematch
Posted by Sam Caplan on September 11, 2007 at 6:17 pm ET
Following his controversial split-decision win over Matt Hamill this past Saturday at UFC 75, Michael Bisping issued comments to Joe Rogan during his post-fight interview and additional comments during the post-fight press conference that angered both fans and critics.
Today, the beleaguered light heavyweight praised his opponent and requested a rematch.
In his fight-night comments, an agitated Bisping was none too complimentary toward Hamill’s performance, and the fighter has been faulted for not showing more respect to an opponent who many fans feel deserved to have his hand raised in victory.
But now that he’s had some time to cool off, Bisping has cleared the air through his personal web site, Bisping.TV.
His latest words are much more gracious toward Hamill’s performance:
“As most people will of seen the fight with me and Hamil was a close one. I have seen the controversy surrounding the decision so obviously have to reply. I personally feel he won round 1 and I took rounds 2 and 3. That said it was close and can I understand how some people would think differently. On the night I was given the decision and he wasn’t, on another occasion it could of been different.
Looking at message boards it appears that some (major understatement) people are pissed off about my comments afer the fight. Looking back I should of given Hamill more credit as he fought a great fight and has improved his all round game a hell of a lot. What you have to remember is though the adrenalin was running through my veins, I had fought a hard fight and was obviously happy to get the decision. I would like to take this opportunity to say well done to Matt for fighting great and bringing the fight to me big time, I should have commented on this on the night.
I have contacted the UFC and stated I would like to rematch Hamill at everyones earliest convenience as I’m sure most of you know, no fighter wants a win when the decision is debateable. I am happy for the fight to take place where ever, and look forward to settling the score once and for all. I personally feel we put on a great fight for the fans and perhaps people should focus on this more.
I apologise to all my fans who feel let down by anyhting at the weekend, hey Im a young man with alot of emotion and sometimes say things in the heat of the moment.
I’d like to say thanks to everyone who has sent me there messages. Theres been to many to reply to them all. I will say this though, if Matt Hammils gonna cut me next time he might need a carving knife as Ive definately got thicker skin over the last few days.“
Bisping has now gone on the record in welcoming a rematch with Hamill, though soon after the event, UFC President Dana White said he was already working on Bisping vs. Hamill II.

I live upcountry. He emails me when he has a new batch in and I ATM transfer him the money and a couple days later I have an EMS box of Pride/UFC, etc dvds. I've bought dozens and dozens this way with never a problem.
If you want the full list of all Pride and UFC matches, type "Pride MMA wikipedia" or "UFC MMA wikipedia" into google and you'll get a comprehensive list. You can use that list to order the ones you want from clickvdo.
I love UFC but now that Pride is gone UFC needs to seriously consider having, in addition to cage fighting, a venue that is NOT in a cage, but roped ring instead. Pride used to draw 50,000 fans to their arena in Japan. UFC never has come close to that! I feel that the roped ring provides an audience with a more immediate, close-at-hand experience. A cage keeps the audience 'from' the fighters, 'walls' them off. And, of course, the production-showmanship values of Pride were way beyond UFC. You need a spectacle to draw millions. Pride was a spectacle. UFC was/is great fighters fighting inside a cage.
torrents are totally free and a whole lot quicker, but thanks for the info.
I’ve no experience with ‘torrents’ but if it is a way to ‘shorten’ all the data in a file in order to send it over internet then I suspect the quality of watching a UFC fight on my computer screen from a ‘torrent’ wouldn’t come close to seeing it on my Sony Tinitron, where I can exercise while watching fight instead of having to sit on my ass in front of my computer—which I do too much of anyway. If torrents are like Mp3 sound files then I rest my case. I’ve seen youtube ‘clips’ of fights and they pale in comparison to watching it on a good tv. If you can put a torrent on a dvd to watch on tv, after waiting for it to download on your computer (after you’ve learned how to use the software, which can be no small feat), now how much money and time are you really saving? I’ve got UFC and Pride fights with artwork sitting on my shelf and it cost me little in time and energy and money to obtain these dvds in Thailand.
And I find it hard to believe that the full fights of all the original production can be obtained so easily—there must be copyright issues, and the sites that distribute them will probably be shut down soon (in fact, they are being shut down, I see on Wikipedia).
But, like I said, I’ve no experience with torrents so I’ll keep an open mind.

Okay, maybe I'll try it if I buy a DVD burner, learn the software, and then do all the other stuff necessary. (Am I sounding computer-phobic?) But by then the sites will probably be shut down just as they now seem to be for Mp3 sharing.
But surely you can't just go online and find every UFC (1-75) and every Pride 1-34 (approx) plus Pride Bushido, etc etc? Can you?
Someone posted that MMA fights were ‘boring.’’ I think he must have only watched fights from earlier times when things could indeed go very slowly due to different rules in effect back then. Back then the referees were not instructed, as they are now, to basically force the fighters to fight. Back then if you landed on top of your opponent on the ground you were allowed to stay on top of him even if you did basically nothing: just lay there. And, in a stand up fight, the fighters could circle each other for minutes on end without throwing a punch. And you could hold onto the clothes of your opponent and also hold onto the fence to prevent a takedown or to immobilize your opponent against the fence. Now you can do none of these things without being penalized. In Pride you would lose 10% of your purse for each infraction like that. In the UFC the referee will restart the fight and possibly take a point away from you (which means you could lose the fight and the bigger purse). All of which makes for a much faster pace.
I agree with the earlier poster (Chiang Mai Noon) who said ‘boxing is dead.’ Boxing is also boring. MMA is not boring. How ridiculous boxing now seems after the advent of Mixed Martial Arts. Boxing is two guys standing up trading blows with giant pillows covering their hands. Yawn. Boxing is a one dimensional sport where the rules encourage you to sustain brain damage through the so-called ‘standing 8 count’ that allows you to be repeatedly pummeled in the head and knocked unconscious and then allowed to ‘recover’ only to sustain more blows to the head and more brain damage. (The big gloves used in boxing actually allow for more damage to the head than the smaller gloves used in MMA because the big gloves allow for many, many more blows to be delivered which causes more concussive damage.) In MMA, if you’re knocked out--or cannot 'intelligently defend yourself'--then the fight is over, period. So while MMA seems more ‘brutal’ than boxing it is actually much safer. And MMA is multi-dimensional: you must cross train in numerous disciplines to have a chance: Muay Thai, judo, wrestling, jeu jitsu, traditional boxing.
Most real fights never stay standing for very long—as it does in the artificial world of boxing. In MMA, you better know how to defend and attack on the ground or you are history. In boxing you need to be young with lightening fast reflexes. In MMA you can fight when you’re ‘older’ because real fighting—as in MMA—requires much more than just youthful reflexes.
And then there are the pathetic, seedy and ridiculous promoters in boxing who arrange fights their fighters can win, so as to advance the fighter’s career, as opposed to MMA where you face truly challenging opponents, where the fights are not fixed. In MMA you as a promoter don’t have a say in who your fighter’s opponent is, that is, unless you just plain ‘chicken out’ and refuse to fight the fighter you are assigned. You won’t stay in MMA long if you think you can ‘pull strings’ like they do in the boxing world. And how many decisions have I seen in boxing that seemed so phony, fixed and wrong? I can’t even count that high. You almost never see a wrong decision in MMA. MMA has integrity in many ways. Let’s hope the Don Kings of the world are kept away from MMA.
No world class boxer stands a chance against a world class mixed martial artist. Wait: let me amend that: no world class boxer stands a chance against even an ‘average’ mixed martial artist. The boxer would be dead meat after a few leg kicks. I wish I could remember the name of the famous heavyweight American boxer who tried his hand in MMA fighting in Japan. He entered the ring with his boxing gloves on against a Japanese fighter who in the span of about 10 seconds repeatedly kicked the bad-ass boxer on his legs so that the boxer literally—I’m not kidding—jumped through the ropes and ran away from the ring. Mr. Boxer was used to being hit with hands covered in 16 ounce pillows (gloves). Poor guy had never felt pain like that before, being kicked in the meat of his thigh with the bare side of a bony foot—probably sounded like “a baseball bat hitting a water buffalo at 80 mph”. (to use the words of, I think, the ringside announcer Steven Quadros who was describing the sound of the blows of the greatest MMA heavyweight, Fedor Emelienko.)

quite sure from the same place your supplier is getting them from.
Mike Tyson might stand a Chance--in his prime--IF he spent many, many months (probably years) studying wrestling, Muay Thai (kicks), jiu jitsu, etc. But if Tyson as a mere boxer stepped into the ring with most heavyweight MMA fighters, he would be kicked, slammed, smashed, choked and beaten to a pulp.
This is why you never see a guy who knows only boxing come into an MMA ring and win fights. Just doesn't happen. Years and years of fights bear this out. But you often see wrestlers who know little if any boxing step into the MMA ring and win fights against very seasoned strikers. If the wrestler (or jiu jitsu) is good, then as soon as the striker throws a punch the wrestler lunges, takes him down and smashes him or submits him. So if you’re a one dimensional fighter with wrestling as your background you are much more likely to win MMA fights than a boxer who knows only boxing.
By the way, Tyson refereed an MMA bout in London. He is a big fan.

Might stand a chance? Are we talking about the same Mike Tyson?
Despite how hard or skilled these fighters are Mike would only have to hit the guy once, never mind study anything. All this choking, smashing & slamming just wouldn't come into it. The whole thing would be over in ten seconds.
I watched the UFC - I'm not sure if it was the same thing as MMA - show where the guys lived together in the Octagon (I think it was called) for so many weeks & fought each-other at the end of each show. There is not one man in that show - especially that little red-haired freak who cried a lot - who would be able to take Mike out.

"i'm a realist, the worst in their division would kick my arse?"
As a huge proponent and former practioner of MMA, I will agree with RL on this. Tyson was more lethal with his strikes than any other man in history. Even if we assume this were no rules early UFC with someone like Royce Gracie, he would never withstand one powerful punch.
I don't think there was ever a boxer with as much power except perhaps for Joe Frasier.
Give me no rules, Tyson vs. Gracie, and Gracie is out like a light.
That's him. What a girl. I could likely do him myself. I sure wouldn't be afraid to try.
I'm glad people see my point about Mike. I'm not trying to slate MMA or UFC but to suggest he wouldn't be able to banjo these guys all over the shop is taking the piss.
Who was the boxer, CMN? I wouldn't have a clue.
^^^gracie would dive for the takedown and submit him as he did with all those beefed up monogos in the first few UFCs.
seems there was a reason for Nakamura's shite performance!Nakamura Tests Positive for Marijuana Options: Email Article | Printer Friendly Wednesday, September 26, 2007by Sherdog.com StaffLight heavyweight Kazuhiro Nakamura (Pictures) has been suspended three months and fined $500 after testing positive for marijuana, the California State Athletic Commission announced Wednesday. Making his UFC debut Sept. 22 in Anaheim, Calif., against Brazil's Ryoto Machida (Pictures), Nakamura was dominated in a three-round unanimous decision loss. Prior to Saturday's fight, Nakamura (11-7) had participated solely in PRIDE events. He fought on U.S. soil once before, stopping Travis Galbraith in Las Vegas in October of last year. The 28-year-old Japanese judoka, who represents the Yoshida Dojo, is the lone participant on the UFC 76 card to test positive for drugs of abuse. All anabolic agent and masking agents tests administered by the CSAC are still pending.
