These rights are normally purchased for several years in advance, as with most tournaments.

Whichever Chinese broadcaster has them now is lucky this year, but for other years the viewing figures won't be anywhere near and they'll live with it based on the bid they paid in the first place.

Unless you have some kind of evidence that the rights holders can ask for more money mid contract depending on the outcome of a specific tournament, then you might as well admit that you're making it up.

They're definitely getting their money's worth though. The first set was longer than several previous finals according to the commentators.

The first set took over an hour...some womens finals have been finished within an hour...although the second set was pretty quick

Yes I do.

It's the purchasers of the rights that take the risk and get the rewards.

Like BT Sport in the UK paying a billion for UEFA competitions for three years.

If the English teams go out in the group phase, they're fucked, they can't ask for a refund you silly sod.
