Too bad we couldn't get the NBC TV coverage here in Thailand. The Star Sports coverage is rinky dink in comparison.

Star Sports?
The coverage here was from Sky Sports broadcast by True, but the only difference is the commentators and the graphics. The pictures themselves will be NBC's and I agree, their ability to follow the ball was shoddy in comparison to the BBC.
Was it the objective commentary where American shots were appreciated just as much that you objected to? or did you miss the American commentators shouting "in the hole" before each shot?
Dumb comment. Getting a bit defensive there Bob.Originally Posted by Bobcock

This actually is one of the most annoying things about US coverage of golf events screened around the world and i believe it's got bugger all to do analysis, interviews etc: and everything to do with commercials being run during the filming. Switching to the studio to hear a commentator stating that a certain player hasn't blown his nose for the past 12 holes is completing mind boggling.
People that switch on want to watch players hit shots not some whining 'expert' from the studio. BBC coverage is the finest of all. Quality commentators and no cutting to the studio after a couple of shots.
i watch a lot of golf on fox sports here in oz and i think the coverage from the US is much better than the bbc,i find the camera work far better, and i love the tips that nick faldo and ian baker-finch etc give out to the punters at home when a different or difficult shot pop's up.as for IN THE HOLE,and the american spectators, you just learn to ignore it,same same as the winging pomms really.
......and illiterate Australians, and your post there is a classic example of such.....
cheers bobbie
Sky Sports or BBC, not sure who is supplying the coverage, seems like it is done by three guys with an iphone and a satellite uplink. US coverage is state-of-the-art broadcasting. Entertaining, informative and world class talent.
Like I said, the pictures were from NBC's iPhone, so any criticism of the pictures you can take firmly on your own chin......5555
What we didn't get from the feed were the enhancements such as ball tracking animations and 3D diagrams showing the slope of the greens. I also enjoy the interviews with the players and there was none of that.
I guess NBC didn't feel like supplying those, and I can assure you SKY and the BBC normally have all those things as well.
Maybe NBC desided to concentrate on the quality of the competition rather than gimmicks?
But now you mention it, yes, there was a lack of that stuff.....maybe it was a reduced Worldwide feed not given to those who didn't pay for it......so lets agree to blame TRUE, after all they are a proven bunch of cvnts....5555
How anyone can think Peter Alliss and Renton Laidlaw are poor at their jobs is beyond me.....
Personally I loved the coverage. No cutbacks to the studio and very few interviews until the very end where we all got to see the outpouring of emotions.
On a different note I thought Davis Love III was a great ambassador for golf, the USA and the human race in general. Let's hope the model IV is even better!
I loved it and watched in on Sky. Superb coverage and a pleasing, albeit inevitable, outcome.
