The 1st one was co-written by Rowan Atkinson, Blackadder had too much of the Mr Bean character in it.
It was only after Ben Elton joined that Blackadder turned into the cynical bastard that I love so much.

Much of the stuff suggested is contemporary, I'm looking to be reminded of older things (like Mission Impossible) I have so many things suggested that I have already on DVD.

The recent things that popped into my mind from the past were Kung Fu, Alias Smith and Jones, Private Schulz and the Time Tunnel.
