First seen in Rising Sun (1994). Took them a while to nick that idea.

    Escape from Pretoria.

I've not seen anything as ridiculous since Clint Eastwoods Escape from Alcatraz were he welded some nail clippers with a pack of matches in a cake tin.

^ Escape From Alcatraz is a true story. They really did dig out with nail clippers and spoons.

^ You Mercans will believe anything

The "nail clippers fallacy" in "Escape From Alcatraz" refers to the film's depiction of the main character, Frank Morris, using a standard, small nail clipper to painstakingly chip away at the concrete wall of his cell to facilitate his escape, which is considered highly unrealistic and improbable due to the sheer difficulty of breaking through solid concrete with such a tool; essentially, the movie portrays the nail clipper as a much more effective tool than it would be in reality.
    Key points about this fallacy:
    Impractical tool:
A typical nail clipper is designed for cutting fingernails, not for breaking through hard materials like concrete, making its use in the film for such a purpose seem highly unrealistic.
    Time and effort:
The amount of time and effort it would take to chip away at concrete with a nail clipper would be extremely significant, far exceeding what is shown in the movie.
    Dramatic license:
While the film is based on a true story of the Alcatraz escape, the use of the nail clipper is considered a dramatic exaggeration to heighten the tension and narrative of the escape sequence.

Dunno if it's been recommended prior but 'The Pitt' is an absolute must watch medical series IMO. Available on TPB.

Paradise has finished, looks like S02 got greenlit.

Really well done, worth a binge if you haven't watched it 8/10.

In a desperate attempt to wait for Reacher S03 to finish, I have moved onto

Squad 36 (French cop Movie). It ain't Braquo, but it's 7/10.
The next post may be brought to you by my little bitch Spamdreth

    ^ I can’t find this Paradise series.

I watched a sci-fi with the same name yesterday which was pretty good though.

Sorry I have to disagree. I thought it poor at best.
I am yet to watch the last episode. It failed to hold my attention and found none of the characters interesting.

I too believe there will be a second series but I won't be watching it.

While on the subject of series I have been disappointed with, I will add Prime Target to the list.

The first episode caught my attention but it has been more than hard work watching subsequent episodes.
Again I found the main characters to be unlikeable and uninteresting and don't ask me about the plot. I gave up caring several episodes ago
I won't be watching should there be a second series
“The ultimate moral test of any government is the way it treats three groups of its citizens. First, those in the dawn of life — our children. Second, those in the shadows of life — our needy, our sick, our handicapped. Third, those in the twilight of life — our elderly.”

I thought it was a weak "Pi meets Sneakers" that probably should have been a TV movie, not a series.

Still resisting Reacher and White Lotus....

    so

    Companion (Movie, 2025)

Sci-fi black/horror comedy about "companion" bots gone wrong.

    6.5/10

    Delicious (Movie, 2025)

Wealthy German couple on holiday are strongarmed into hiring local girl as domestic helper. The twist doesn't really save it.

    4/10

    Presence (Movie, 2024)

A supernatural thriller, where the camera is from the point of view of the "presence".

I normally like Steven Soderbergh, but this misses; the actors seem more focused on hitting their marks than making the characters convincing.

    5/10

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue (TV, 2025)

A jungle-based whodunnit as the survivors of a plane crash start to get bumped off.

Ep. 1 was interesting so carrying on.

Two up, four more on drip feed.

    6.5/10

Reacher has been great. Although I only realised it's based on the book I got for Christmas and haven't read yet...

    Adolescence (TV, 2025)

BBC four parter about a 13 year old arrested for murder.

Only watched the first but it's a solid 8/10 for me so far.

    All four are there.
