4 episodes into Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Interesting, but not as good as The Body Guard, Doc Martin, or Breaking Bad.

Apparently the author buried them in the middle of the book, but gave permission for the English translation to have them moved up front, which is the version Netflix filmed.

There is a 30 (!) Episode TV adaptation done by the Chinese which is more faithful to the original novel.

Smaller files seem to have English subs, although I had no trouble finding it on Syncler anyway.

    Constellation is overhyped shit.

    I like Constellation...

This 3 Body Problem gets worse as it goes on. I won't be watching a second series...

Ditto to Constellation ....had 6 episodes downloaded but gave up halfway through #2
3 body problem ....nope, couldn't get into that either.

Just watched the first 2 episodes of a new Aussie crime series " High Country". Seems pretty good so far, but some people should be warned the lead role features a lesbian mixed race couple and might be a bit too woke for them.

Samurai is coming along quite nicely although the lead actor (Richard Chamberlain wannabee) is pretty weak - the rest of the cast is good, the scenery is nice, lots of Japs dying, some sexy Japanese ladies; loads of good stuff... I'm liking the Japness so much that I've been moved to buy two new pairs of Momotaro jeans - should arrive next week.

&, no single sex couples or wokeness (quite the opposite in fact).
    Cycling should be banned!!!

No blacks, but there was an African called Yasuke who served in a family of Samurai in the 16th century. No film has ever been made about him, they would rather invent black characters who never existed, or cast them in historical roles of people who were not black. You would have thought somebody would have done something with Yasuke by now.

    Roadhouse 2024

Highly recommend that you stay as far away from this load of shit, as possible.
Connor McGregor should never be allowed on a movie set, again.

^ I wouldn't watch anything with that twat as a matter of principle - I'm surprised you even gave it a go...

^^ Could this be an opportunity for your writing/directing debut???

^^ ^ The original Roadhouse is one film I’ve never seen. Always avoided it. Since Jake Gyellenhaal is in the new one, I have to see it. I totally expect it to be crap but I just gotta.

    Save wasting your time.

    Wow! Was this bad!
[COLOR=var(--ipt-on-base-textPrimary-color)]Jake Gyllenhaal was fine, but outside of that this film was horrible! Doug Liman directed this? Seriously?

The storyline was weak. Casting was terrible (i hate films that cast for political correctness vs. Talent). Script was true cornball. They made Conor McGregor into a ridiculous, maniacally grinning robot.

I actually feel bad for Gyllenhaal who obviously trained hard for this disaster, and he has nothing to show for it.

The original was no great masterpiece but at least it was fun to watch and it had a good story to it. This can't hold a candle to that one.

I watched the first five minutes.

There were so many clichés - that was enough.

Conor Mcgregor playing an obnoxious pikey wanker.

    Couldn't have cast it better.

Very biased and untruthful as expected. At 28 mins somebody says (Lincoln) freeing the Negro's and offering them the vote was too much. Lincoln did neither, the 13 amendment was not passed until 8 months after he was shot, and he was very much against Negro's getting the vote, holding public office or inter marrying with whites.

Here’s an interesting interview with Hiroyuki Sanada and Cosmo Jarvis, on their roles in Shogun.

Well I wasn't looking for a review of historical accuracy because I don't really give a shit.

Was it any good if you're not a dull pedant?

Looking forward to the finale. I am only 2 episodes in but I am loving the attention to details and the cinematic grandeur that Spielberg and Hanks have brought to the production.

The preflight checks and the operational details of performing a bombing run felt quite fresh compared to previous treatments.

Nice to have a show now and again that you savour rather than wade through.

Defo worthy of its stable-mates Band of Brothers and Pacific

I am not sure how much longer I can get by with only a 1/72 B-17 before pulling the trigger on a 1/48

Reading the reviews on IMDB may give more insight into this all America pie celebration of how they won the war!

I haven't been too enamoured with recent offerings but one show I have enjoyed was American Rust: Broken Justice starring Jeff Daniels & Maureen Tierney.
Season 1 which is well worth watching before Season 2 aired in 2021 I believe and was simply titled American Rust..
Showtime dropped it and Season 2 aired on Amazon Prime.

A criminal investigation and evolving relationships set in a small rust belt town around Pittsburgh PA.

I haven't enjoyed much else that is recent, so as this is the year of elections, I went back in time to watch 2 UK political series one based on the novel with the other inspired by the same novel - A Very British Coup by Chris Mullin an ex UK MP
A Very British Coup (1988) looks a little dated now but is a good story with a good UK TV cast
Secret State (2012) inspired by the book and again with an excellent British cast led by Gabriel Byrne.

Both well worth a watch imo
