I have just finished ‘Under the Banner of Heaven’ a 7 part crime/detective mini series on FX/Hulu.
Based on a true story, a devout detective’s faith is tested as he investigates a brutal murder seemingly connected to an esteemed Utah family’s spiral into LDS fundamentalism and their distrust of the government.

I thought it was good TV, although I doubt that it did much for the Mormon religion membership drive

We were persuaded to go and watch the new Top Gun in the cinema last night . . . surprisingly good, excellent effects and almost no USA-Rah-Rah, the opposite actually.

Definitely worth seeing on the big screen for full effect.

Not a fan of Tom Cruise at all, aside from his Scientology crap far too many think we look alike . . . I'm substantially taller and don't have a big nose. Oh, and the fact that he's about 600 million times wealthier.

Still, some of his movies are quite good . . . though casting him as Reacher was a joke.

Thanks will re-watch the excellent first to refresh happy memories I had as a student there in Helge land where in the icy winters the nipples were stiff and the Aaalbor's Jubileum Aakavit and Gamle Danske snaps/bitters even stiffer.

They have no hills just culture a wonderful place.Even teh slums and immigrant areas nicer than Plymouth Sydney or New York

Hustle with Adam Sandler on Netflix, I really had no idea what it was about (beforehand) Not a comedy but had a few chuckles. Really enjoyed it. I didn't realize the training involved. Fit perfectly into my viewing last night

Watching Season 4 of Stranger things..... now on netflix.

I actually rewatched it from Season 1 as I had forgotten most of it.

I'm a couple of episodes in to a new 10 part HBO series, "Amsterdam". Set in Mexico City, a music producer and his aspiring actress girlfriend and their adopted stray dog (named 'Amsterdam' after the street they found him in) struggling in their respective careers and relationship. Billed as a comedy, and it does indeed have humour. Notable for the quality of the production and camera work. Relatively small episode lengths of circa 35-40 minutes. Nothing to stop me watching so far.

Just about made it through Gaslit. I get the impression they were told to ditch an episode or two after writing it, and had to gloss over a lot at the end.
The whole Gordon Liddy in prison episode was a load of pointless crap, and the end was just a hotch potch.
