Very good news. I was thinking about it when I was watching "Power", most probably because both likes expensive watches. But that's where the similarity stops. I don't know for which public this show is but I stop watching after the 6th episode. I may give Sense8 a chance while I'm waiting for Ray Donovan. Or worse come to worst there is still the new season of Master Chef ...

    Vince Vaughan?

    Christ on a bike.

Still, the last one surprised me I suppose.

Just re-watched Sophie's Choice after many years. A good movie, but Meryl Streep's performance is simply spectacular - no wonder she got an Academy Award for it, and is the most celebrated actress of our time - 19 Academy Award nominations, I believe..the most ever, male or female.

Now on to The French Lieutenant's Woman - haven't watched that in decades.

Can't wait for The Martian, with Matt Damon in lead, to be released in theaters Nov. 2015. Based on the fantastic book written by Andy Weir, self-published in 2011 and re-released in 2014 (thence becoming famous). The trailer for the movie has got the critics comparing it to 2014's Interstellar (in which Damon had a cameo roll) that received 5 Oscar nominations this year, none in the major categories. I thought matthew mcconaughey deserved best actor until I found out he won it last year. Great movie and 2 bits Damon gets his first best actor award (the role is as complex and exciting as it can get, if the movie script follows the book) for The Martian which should be every bit as good or better as Interstellar. In the meanwhile, if you haven't done so, download Interstellar.
“The Master said, At fifty, I knew what were the biddings of Heaven. At sixty, I heard them with docile ear. At seventy, I could follow the dictates of my own heart; for what I desired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.”

But Interstellar was a load of self indulgent Nolan nonsense.

Yes. An interesting premise but it didn't really float my boat.

Harry, I presume you to be an American, hence sentimental. Fair assumption? Therefore, romantic. You saw nothing so tear-jerking as Guy Pearce's character having fooled himself? Let me give you a very similar, but more juvenile premise as a comparison in Johnny Depp's character in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Window which was a good movie. I repeat: the premise behind Secret Window was juvenile compared to Memento but it was a very, very, entertaining movie (besides Depp I'm a big fan of John Turtoro). Memento put Nolan into the stratosphere of great directors.

No, no, no. Simply guessing. I love to guess, right or wrong. Take, for example, this wrong one: if i had thought more deeply, I would recall that some of your posts on the RIP Famous Person Thread are usually of non-Americans of British origins, that Americans (OK, of my ilk) have never heard of. Yeah? For example, Ron Moody. Of course, I wouldn't have added to my conclusion based on the obit of Sir Christopher Lee, rest in peace.

Actually, it was a very bad guess. But I've found Brit's can disguise their accents and accents are even easier to hide on the written page. So, I guessed that you seem to write the written word very much like an American, ipso facto, I profiled you.

Let me try another one. I place the odds of being correct with the following guess at 100%: you are a native English speaker. I'll say no more.

    Not British or American

Not as good as Khartoum but OK and an interesting insight. 5/10 Not stunning anymore but worth a look...
    And it is long.

My torrent sourced copy lost a few pixels along the way but only about three times and not at important moments. Mostly on nature long shots.

A new series called 'The Tribe' has started. Follows a Tribe in Africa (?) during their everyday lives. Funny and revealing. Not to be confused with Bruce Parrys Tribe although I think he had visited them.

    I got it from TVChaos.

..and I can't wank off about Strike Back enough. The new series called Legacy has so far been set in Thailand. Turn your brain off and enjoy the action,

I got that from piratebay/kickass. Only up to ep2

Got delayed because of an "incident" in a tuk tuk. Love to know what that was all about!

Meanwhile, I watched "Top of the Lake", a Jane Campion crime thriller set in scenic NZ.

Pretty quirky and quite dark, albeit with a highly predictable ending.

When pregnant, 12-year-old Tui tries to kill herself in a freezing New Zealand lake, Detective Robin Griffin has plenty of questions for the girl. But when Tui suddenly disappears, Griffin finds herself knee-deep in small-town secrets.

S01E01 of a new series called Dark Matter is available.

The six-person crew of a derelict spaceship awakens from stasis in the farthest reaches of space. Their memories wiped clean, they have no recollection of who they are or how they got on board. The only clue to their identities is a cargo bay full of weaponry and a destination: a remote mining colony that is about to become a war zone. With no idea whose side they are on, they face a deadly decision. Will these amnesiacs turn their backs on history, or will their pasts catch up with them?
