    ^^Based on your scale, I would have given Fury an 8, Goodfellas a 9, and 12 Years a Slave a 4.

^I'll give it a try. Cruise is quite one-dimensional in my opinion, but maybe he's improved with age. I'll rate Cruise later, rather than the movie, as I'm not a scifi fan.

Obviously the scores are subjective, 12 Years a Slave for instance.

Agree with Tom Cruise being one dimensional, he plays Tom Cruise..

Have you watched Tropic Thunder.? That's ridiculously funny and has a great cast of actors, including Cruise in a small role, best of all Robert Downey Jr playing a black guy... they're a bunch of failed actors making a Vietnam War film that gets fucked up, full of cliche and overblown ego.. I get the impression they had good fun while filming.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

I watched Predestination last night. It was ok, I'll give it a 7

    Download Predestination (2014) 720p BrRip x264 - YIFY Torrent - KickassTorrents

It's about the paradox of time travel, chicken and egg and all that.. kind of struggled to hold together in places but managed quite a good ending.

Yeah, Tropic Thunder was quite funny. I liked Cruise as the punk kid Navy lawyer in the movie about the fenceline shootings at Gitmo. You could actually believe him in that role.

    Really? It's a blast.
Watch it again with the mindset of "it's a pisstake of a movie about a pisstake of a pisstake"

Some great performances, Nick Nolte is Brilliant as is Downy Jnr.
The whole cast is laughing at themselves.

I know what mindset I was supposed to be in. But it's not in the same league as 'Flying High', 'Hot Shots', 'Top Secret', 'The Naked Gun' etc.

Of course it's not in the same league as those movies; it's much better.

Just watched 'Fury'. The choices made at the end of the movie seem completely insane & incredible, after all they've been through & the war's end days away. BTW, I really enjoyed 'Mr Sloane'. Well, written, well acted, & extremely likable light fare.

I tried the Tom Cruise alien movie. Made it 20 minutes. Sci-fi just isn't my thing. Re Cruise...he was Cruise. I just wanted the smack that "I'm so fucking cute" little smile off his face. It might have worked on teenage girls years ago, but no more.........

Rainman, Jerry Maguire, Magnolia, A Few Good Men. All very good movies with Cruise playing diverse roles. He was very funny in Rock of Ages too.

I thought he was good in "A Few Good Men".

Some actors, Travolta for instance, greatly improve with age. Cruise hasn't impressed me as doing so.

    To each his own.

In his late forties Cruise is still trying to trade off his fitness and good looks as a leading man. Travolta gave that up a long time ago opting for the character roles which revived his career.

He's 52 now and still doing his own stunts.
Most of his movies are formulaic crap, swap a jet for a car for a beachbar for a pool cue for a courtroom and the plot is virtually identical.

Maguire was good, and A Few Good Men, but largely on the strength of the supporting cast and some excellent writing. Take Jack or Cuba out of those rolls and the end result would be far less enjoyable.

Minority Report was a good step out for him.

Yes, I find meself struggling with that too...

Couldn't stand the tank movie, a rape of Sven Hassels stuff?

Quite enjoying Constantine although the overacting by the lead character is pretty shocking...

If you exclude Rock of Ages (it wasn't his film and he didn't even exec produce), his last six films have made about $1.3 billion PROFIT, so he must be doing something right.

And he has another Mission Impossible currently in production, plus Jack Reacher's "Never Go Back" which should do well.

There was even talk of a Top Gun sequel until Tony Scott jumped off the Vincent Thomas bridge. I would imagine he probably would have played the fatherly instructor in that one, to some popular teen arse like Justin Bieber.

Say what you like about him, the boy knows how to make money.

Hollywood virtually kicked him off the A-list in the 90's after a few turkeys, and he's been doing very nicely ever since.

Saturday nights boxing from the UK. Billy Joe Saunders vs Chris Eubank Jr, & Dereck Chisora vs Tyson Fury.

I'd give the Heavyweights a miss but the Saunders - Eubank fight was decent.

^ I mentioned it a while back. I'm on episode 6 now and have really enjoyed it. Good, gritty Italian crime drama. By far the best of all the foreign stuff I've watched recently.
