Don't recall if these have been posted before.

Copper. Irish cop in the Five Points slums of New York during the period just after the Civil War. Two seasons. On Pirate Bay. Not bad...7/10. I actually liked it a bit more than that as I like the period from the late-1800's through the end of WW2.

Ripper Street. Detective in London. Same time period. Also two seasons. Also from Pirate Bay. 8/10 based on 1st episode only.

Black Sails. Pretty good pirate yarn. Pirate Bay. First season. 8/10.

Crossbones. Pirates again. Pirate Bay. First season. 7/10 based only on first episode.

Yes it's been promoted before. I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 seasons. I wasn't happy with the final episode as I felt there was more to offer with another season or 2.

Sultry latina sexpot Elizabeth Peņa passed away yesterday at the tender age of 55.

Which set a couple of us to thinking about a brilliant Adrian Lyne flick she was in with Tim Robbins, called Jacob's Ladder.

The IMDB description goes "Mourning his dead child, a haunted Vietnam war veteran attempts to discover his past while suffering from a severe case of dissociation. To do so, he must decipher reality and life from his own dreams, delusion, and perception of death."

But that doesn't really do it justice. It's Lyne's best movie by a country mile.

Seems a bit more focussed this season.

No laugh out loud moments yet.

    Bad words

a bit of a fun comedy - a bit of childish humour but it made me laugh out loud a couple of times

Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame.

I watched a couple episodes of BBC 3's 'Uncle'last night. It's about the budding relationship between the slovenly, loser, busker, uncle and his smart 12 year old nephew. Pretty witty so far. I'm digging it.

    'God's Pocket'

    s'alright.

    Very, very bleak.

It's a lot more 'slight' than it seems to think it is. Trying quite hard to be realistic. It falls badly short of this with scenes like Phillip Seymour Hoffman chasing after a truck and nearly catching it and a scene in which we're asked to believe that someone would ever shag Joan from 'Mad Men' without getting her tits out.

    6.5/10

Fair waring; the above piratebay link is for a 3.58 GB file. Not bad action considering Pierce Brosnan is clocking up 60.

I did. Bummer. Just watched #5 last night. It's well written & acted. I'll have to satisfy myself with the Knick. Seems like there is a fascination with the approximately the WWI time period these days - Downton, Peaky Blinders, the Knick, Boardwalk, Crimson Field etc.
