There's a sketch with Vicky Pollard in a Thai Prison.

Can't believe I never heard of this 1996 BBC drama. It's called Our Friends in the North.

It follows the lives of mainly four people from Newcastle from 1964 to 1995.
Has Christopher Ecclestone, Malcolm McDowell and Daniel Craig, plus a host of very familiar British actors.
I downloaded the torrent and am upto 1970. Excellent stuff.

Downloaded http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0490126/ A bio of Kenneth Williams

I found it to be quite disturbing but well worth a look. Michael Sheen is a superb actor.

If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.

Prisoner is a cult classic, but really not sure whether you'll find it enjoyable Balders, it's a bit 'out there'. In fact it's way out there.

I just watched this the other month as well, agreed, very good story of northern life and politics over a few decades, and with a fine cast of actors.

Just watched 'Man on Wire', absolutely loved it, what a great story of a man that illegaly high wire walk between the twin towers in 1974. Superb, enjoyed it a lot.

At last the French have some one they can be proud of!

    Dolce Vito, Dream Restaurant.
a series based on an Italian born Brit and Anglophiles attempt to build a British Restaurant serving Brit food, in Italy. Vito, the central man, has great personality but faces enormous problems with red tape and the Italian pig headed attitude.
    Excellent series on UK Nova

If by 'great', you mean 'big', then yes. A dickhead of the highest order.

gotten through 1 and a half episodes - the biggest problem I am finding with trying to digest it is the acting skill of the lead character makes thai soap opera twats look brilliant. he is fcuking horrendous.

I can get past the cheesy special effects but the lead numbnuts does my head in.

so much so I d/loaded the second series of "the wire" and watched 2 episodes of it last night instead of subjecting myself to "the prisoner"

Just coming to end of a mini Woody Allen binge. Watched Annie Hall, Love and Death, Hannah and her Sisters (worst of the bunch), Husbands and Wives, and (later today) Manhattan. Fantastic stuff.

    Autumn

It's autumn so I'm busy downloading all the series I like keeping up with:

    Bones
    All the CSI's
    Without a Trace
    Law and Order SVU
    Lie to Me
    Warehouse 13 (New)
    Fringe
    Sanctuary

There's a new Stargate (Universe) just started, which looks good from the pilot.

A new Brannon (Star Trek: Enterprise) sci fi series called FlashForward

    SuperNatural

But if you want 13 episodes of a cult series that ended up having a feature length movie to wrap it up, funded by the Weinsteins no less, then look for FireFly (the TV Series) and Serenity (The movie).

Think cowboys on space ships. Great Cast, great scripts, great FX and a wholly satisfactory ending.

You can do worse on a crappy, wet, Thailand weekend!

I've recommended this to friends who all like different things, and no-one's come back with anything but glowing praise.

If your DVD player has a "DivX" logo on it, then you can use DivX converter. That way you can get half a dozen 700Mb movies on one disc.

There is this new (at least new to me) serie called "Life". For the little I watched, it seems above average. Is it worth downloading ?
