What songs do you hate yourself for liking? I know we all have them, secretly clinging to songs that slip under the radar of our own good taste.
For me, this month anyway, it's California Gurls by Katy Perry.

This song I liked at the time as it happened around the same period as the split-up with my first serious girlfriend.
Now when I hear it I ask myself why.
old girlfriend,.she liked it
a little 'progressive rock', anyone?
I saw Jethro Tull in concert in 1984, again in 1993 - in nearly 40 years touring they must have done this song so many times . . . and it used to be thrashed on the 'classic rock' radio stations.
Found this video from the 84 tour, not the best sound quality.
OK - just once more
Back in the day, stuff like this...
Another one I liked back then...
Yeah, I know, I know...
Just watch the music video and you'll soon stop the tune buzzing in your head. Snoop Dog dressed up like a freakin idiot in a candy suit and loads of minging girls dancing around in an Alice in Wonderland setting.Originally Posted by Humbert
It crap. I was expecting loads of girls in bikini's having water fights and slapping each other on the bum.
I could have made a much better video.![]()
Here are some that were popular at clubs in my early days. I remember dancing with my Latina ex to this one and a few others.....
I have heard unconfirmed rumours that this may be a gay song, but i like it anyway. its my 'ironing dressed only in my underwear' anthem
Any song that's named an 'Anthem' is just screaming 'Gay gay gay!!"Originally Posted by slimboyfat
Apart from national anthems.
^ oh yeah. I remember that. Since we are on the topic...
yeah, I can listen to Supermodel by Rupaul because it's funny. Sylvester is a bit better overall I think.

I used to fancy Neneh Cherry so much I would look at the cassette inlay of her album everytime I was in Woolworths
for some reason i like this one as well. i even bought the single
Again there is an element of gayness about this. But look at the bristols. It can't be all gay can it?
I would look at the cassette inlay of her album everytime I was in Woolworths - that's a euphemism I've never heard before. Hope you washed your hands before you hit the pick and mix.Originally Posted by slimboyfat
I have a bit of a weak spot for cheesy disco music, early to mid 70's type stuff.
Some of the cheesiest came from two bands from Germany-
Boney M (eg Rasputin)
Silver Convention (Fly robin fly)
But for high, smelly cheese from that era, Amanda Lear is it. I think she's pretty obscure now- put it this way, if I heard it in a bar I'd go and speak to the owner- I figure he'd have some vintage, and interesting stories to tell. She has this sleazy, sultry yet commercial sound- I'm surprised really she's so obscure now. Some of her songs-
Follow Me, Run Baby Run, Gold, Lilli Marlene (great version)
She was big with the gay set (no, I'm not). And speaking of gay, I do like the Pet Shop Boys.![]()
you think i am to going bother clicking on all these you tube links , when you cannot be arsed to say what they are.?
^The titles are on the preview of the vids..
What you talkin bout shame fool!! All three of those tracks go down in the history of shaping modern music as we know it!!Originally Posted by chitown
This was an awesome documentary, I'm sure the other parts are available from youtube.
Skyhooks
Not sure if this is bad or not, I think she's quite talented. Seen some MTV acoustic sessions with her as well and she can definiely sing well:
