This has turned from cult movies to movies I think are cult but really arent.
How can Full Metal Jacket or Platoon be a cult film. This threads just list a movie.
depends on the box office gross and how passionate the following is.
wiki suggests that a cult film can eventually be seen as a mainstream classic.
not so clear cut, melv.
because they are,Originally Posted by melvbot
Platoon could be questionable though,
So you really think that Platoon or Full Metal Jackets is a cult film?
How about Spiderman or Lord of the Rings are they cult films as well?
what is the difference between a kiwi and an australian ? is it the same as the difference between a French and a Fat Belgium ?
No, it's not being debated. From imdb:-
* In July 2000, director Ridley Scott said that Deckard is, in fact, a replicant.
* At some point of the movie, each replicant has a red brightness in their eyes (Rachael in Deckard's home, Pris in Sebastian's). Deckard also has the shining in his eyes while talking to Rachael in his house.

well the first one made in the late 70s could be said to be some kind of a cult movieOriginally Posted by melvbot
LoTR likewise had a first version in the early 80s that was amazing, the recent ones are absolute crap, but still could be considered cult for the new GenX and GenY crowd,
what about the Matrix cult ? does it have merit ? the first one maybe, but the other were absolutely crap

Bullshit, Ridley Scott changed his story as a small publicity stunt. He was on record previously saying that he wasn't a replicant. This is in line with the recent cuts he did, adding scenes to "renew" the movie angle that he was a replicant. Not in the original script.Originally Posted by Sir Burr

.....and the red light in their eyes?
It is now pretty much accepted by the majority of Blade Runner fans that Deckard was a replicant. If you want to say otherwise, it, doesn't change the directors own words, nor his clear intention that Deckard was a replicant by giving him that red glow in the eyes which was in every version of the film.
Of course it isn't in the script. Nowhere in the movie does it say he is a replicant. It was implied.
Hercule Poirot was a fat, cultured Belgian.
well, so why was he on record saying he wasn't when the movie was released and that was one of the major thing departing from the book ? the red eye was simply a wink to the book fans, nothing elseOriginally Posted by Sir Burr
it would have made more sense in the story to make it clear eventually that he was one, instead of sending subtile suggestions which didn't really add anything to the story line. He didn't follow the book, period, and the added scene are just limited tricks to catch up on it and an excuse for subsequent releases,
The Final Cut was very good, but I still like the original version. Not impressed with the Director Cut. Saw that movie about a million time.

The Castle
Anybody know of a little known, low-budget Aussie move called The Cube?
Six complete strangers wake up in individual cubes. Each side has a door leading into another identical cube. Some cubes are booby-trapped and some are safe. Every now and again, the mass of cubes move into different positions. The survivors meet up, but, only one gets out alive.
Brilliant independent movie.
Give the Aussies their due, they make some great little movies.
How about cheech and Chong? those have to be a cult films
The Van Part of a Roddy Doyles trilogy about the Rabbitte family from Ireland. The basis of the story is that Jimmy Rabbitte Sr. has been laid off from his job and has no money. His friend also gets laid off and gets a redundancy check. With this check the two friends decide to purchase a 'chipper' or Fish and Chips van. The story is about the two friends trying to deal with their new business and the stresses involved.
This one might not be everyones idea of cult status but it certainly is an underated and entertaining movie.
