    Pandora's Box

    Go to:

    http://www.pandora.com/

Enter the name of an artist/group and you will have your very own radio station created playing similar muzak.

    It's really rather good.

I think you might get more out of it than I Marmers.

If you program in a metal band from the 80's you'll get a pretty broad mix of similar bands.
Unfortunately, 'Ministry' only brings up some awful bands and songs.

Thats pretty damn good danbo, I got to admit I didn't check the be your own dj link as I assumed it would just be lists of bands as opposed to the actual music, off to check that one out next

Well obviously I was aware of Bwana Brad's thread but let's face it, it wasn't completely accurate in the sense of suggesting that you could, "Be Your Own DJ". What happens is that you enter a song that you like and then the tiny woodland creatures inside your computer form a band and begin playing tunes that are of a similar nature.

I discussed the problem with Brad in my head; and as he was far too embarrassed to correct the situation I volunteered to post afresh - After all, we thought, what saddo is going to remember the original thread.....Can't wait to tell Brad what happened.

Back off Margaret, you're on a sugar rush!

I put about 15 bands in the one 'station', so I'm getting some right wierd shite - I think I made the mistake of putting Turin Brakes in, so it keeps playing crappy soppy Seppo acoustic shite. I kept on telling the prog that they were shite, and I think it's learnt now.

    There's another site at:

    http://www.last.fm/

Which does something similar I think. On this one you have to download a plugin to your music player and it uploads the songs that you play to an enormous cosmic chicken in Nepal.....or something like that.

Bwana Brad is Macha danbo. You're discussing the problem with your head with Macha?
    Now that's a worry!

    Pooly,

Did you try adding other bands to your station?

If there is a song that you like you can give it a 'Thumbs Up' (left mouse button menu). More songs of that type will then be played. Alternatively if there is a song you don't like you can throw your computer on the floor and stamp on it....or give it a 'Thumbs Down' from the same menu.

NB: I received a red-repo point from this thread from anon asking, 'Are you a homosexual ?'.....I knew it was bound to come out sooner or later but I never thought that this thread would be the giveaway....The 'Super Noodles' thread fair enough.....
