As for the thread - Joy Division were super-special....'I've walked on water run through fire can't seem to feel it any more'.
Radio -- live transmission -- radio
live transmission
Listen to the silence, let it ring on
Eyes dark, relentless, frightened of the sun
We would have a fine time living in the night
Be left a blind destruction,
Waiting for our sight
We would go on as though nothing was
wrong
Hide from these days to remain all alone
Staying in the same place,
just staring at the tide
Touching from a distance, further all the time
yea me too..in private life as well as his music...i was going through the divorce thing - #??- at the same time as him...the judge awarded half of everything to his wife...so he took a chainsaw and cut their bed in half...Originally Posted by danbo

^^'DANCE DANCE DANCE DANCE TO THE RADIO!!!!!!'
Ah, some of those lyrics will start to make sense now, danbo
Procession moves on, the shouting is over
Praise to the glory of loved ones
now gone
Talking aloud as they sit
round their tables
Scattering flowers washed down by the rain
Stood by the gate at the foot of the garden
Watching them pass like clouds in the sky
Try to cry out in the heat of the moment
Possessed by a fury
that burns from inside
Cry like a child though
these years make me older
With children my time
is so wastefully spent
Burden to keep, though their
inner communion
Accept like a curse
an unlucky deal
Laid by the gate at the foot
of the garden
My view stretches out
from the fence to the wall
No words could explain,
no actions determine
Just watching the trees
and the leaves as they fall
Sounds like not a happy man, although his friends were very suprised when he did himself in.
Damn! If I can't uppity & stampy, what's the point in living?Originally Posted by danbo

NickA, Unknown Pleasures or Closer which do you think is the best?
Hmmm, difficult one, I think Unknown Pleasures just about wins for its greater energy, but only just.
Have you seen 24 hour party people?
I downloaded it a couple of months ago, had been waiting to watch it for ages. Kind of dissapointing in my view although it had some good bits.
Yeah, I thought they recreated the Hacienda well - though Steve Coogan as Tony Wilson???
Yep, that was the problem, they concentrated on his character too much, cos he was supposedly the star of the film.
There was at least 2 or 3 films worth of material to be covered so it was too rushed - The Smiths and The Stone Roses weren't even mentioned, or very briefly mentioned - and yet they wasted time on stupid bits from Granada Reports!
i WANT TO SEE 24 HOUR PARTYB PEOPLE..
STEVE COOGAN ID FUCKI G ace!!!!!!!!
I'm sure!!! Been on the vino Scamp?Originally Posted by The Gentleman Scamp

Oh and New Order are doing the soundtrack that is re-interpretations of old joy division songs and a couple of newies - might be using the Joy Division name too.
NickA, Thank you!! That must be the one!Originally Posted by NickA
I want to buy it again. I can't read the title, though, but knowing what it looks like is good enough.
Cheers.
Album title is Pills 'N' Thrills and Bellyaches
Interesting, Anton has always been accused of overplaying the Ian Curtis myth in previous videos, so it should be quite dark and brooding. Who's gonna play the man though? No-one can really recreate his on stage performances, although the guy in 24 hours had a go.Originally Posted by cantona
NickA, I think it's some guy from leads who is a drummer in a band - got the part out of the blue I think.
Thank you Lom....
I met a backpacker yesterday who was as irritatingly over confident as he was handsome, his voice husky from too much patying and his manner more cheerful than an American daytime television host, only he was from Bethnal Green.
I asked him what he thought of the following bands and he said I should have been at the full moon party last night as it was 'wicked' and 'buzzing' and he also said that he's going up to Pai for a few days to 'chill' and asked where he could get some 'Linford'.
"I'm an outsider by choice, but not truly. It's the unpleasantness of the system that keeps me out. I'd rather be in, in a good system. That's where my discontent comes from: being forced to choose to stay outside.
My advice: Just keep movin' straight ahead. Every now and then you find yourself in a different place."
