    Untraceable 2008

All about a cyber killer, the more people look the quicker the victim dies...

Couple of original ways of dying, but as a whole disappointing. 5/10

    Insomnia stuff.

XXY (2007) - Argentinian film about a teenage hermaphrodite. Good acting, interesting premise, nice cinematography. Decent story although I felt they could have done more with it.

Well worth seeing anyway. 7 out of 10.

    Sublime

Guy goes in for a colinoscopy and gets something else done to him. Don't know what because I didn't even finish it. Boring as hell.

Four more well-known ones, but this is his production to (and exceeding a bit) date:

    1, 2 or 3 ?

1 and 2 were classics. 3 was a waste of time.

    Broadway Danny Rose (1984)

Danny Rose is a manager of artists, and although he's not very successful, he nevertheless goes out of his way to help his acts. So when Lou Canova, a singer who has a chance of making a come-back, asks Danny to help him with a problem, Danny helps him. This problem is Lou's mistress Tina. Lou wants Tina to be at his concerts, otherwise he can't perform, but he's married, so Danny has to take her along as if she was his girlfriend. Danny however gets more than he has bargained for when two mobsters come looking for the guy who has hurt their brother by stealing the heart of Tina, the girl he loves.
    Broadway Danny Rose (1984)

Starring Mia Farrow and Woody Allen (who also wrote and directed), another gem from one of one of my favorite directors.

Fantastic 4, with the Silver Surfer

Super Trashy, but great if you have a hangover and need to rest in front of the TV without resorting to much thinking

    Jumper (2008)

I really wasn't expecting much when my g/f put this dvd in. But I watched it just the same because it was raining and there was fuck all to do. Basic premise: Some dude discovers that he can teleport to anywhere he wants. So what does he do? He decides to rob banks. He teleports straight into the vault, grabs the cash, and then teleports out. Next we see him he's in this big lavish apartment. But this other dude, Samuel L. Jackson is after him. He's what's called a Paladin, and his job is to chase down these jumpers. The problem is that we have absolutely no sympathy towards the main character. He's done nothing good with his power; he just abuses it, so we don't really care what happens to him. Predictable storyline and shite acting all around. Even the g/f didn't like it, which should tell you how bad this is.

Dark City (1998) - currently on Cinemax. This is a wonderful and underrated sci fi thriller that borrows heavily from film noir, Edward Hopper and Blade Runner. Early on we even get a glimpse of our old buddy HAL in what must be a tribute to Arthur C Clarke's 2001.

Katana already reviewed this but my 2 cents worth. Crap crap crap. Ridiculous movie on a small budget with ludicrous characters.

    East is East.

Interestingly, the corner house on the opening title is where I lived for 8 years.

    I loved Layer Cake, too.

    Cloverfield:

Big alien monster attacks Manhattan, shot verite-style during a going-away party. Great fun! Throw some popcorn in the microwave, sit back and enjoy! Got a dvd-quality torrent from mininova...

    The Mist,

Whaoo, what an ending, very dark. That made the movie. A bit long, but still well done.
