I should have stayed home farting under the covers and watching some old Simpsons DVDs that I own.... it would have been way more entertainment for me (the farting under the covers part at least).

Merly Streep was a 50 something reporter that apparently is still suffering from menopause - hot flashes and generally at her wits end. Seen enough of that crap in my life!

It was 3 stories in one that made Babel a 5 star thumbs up film.

The only thoughts I had when I left the film was who had more wrinkles and a bigger chicken neck.........Meryl Streep or Robert Redford.

Denzel Washington`s in it who usually plays a decent part. Basically hes a ruthless drug dealer who imports his gear from SEA to the US via the US military. Ends up supplying half the mafia with gear. Things start to go pear shaped when gives out jobs to his half witt family.

Disturbingly original but not obvious horror film that says what I have been saying for years about mans complete stupidity in the name of belief, though in this case womans complete stupidity.

Wouldn't mind seeing the 1973 original.

A feel good movie for non-Americans. It's basically the story of the misconception that the US has a first-world government and healthcare, when the sad reality is that the US government is there simply to promote itself at the expense of its citizens. The main character, Michael, is a fat (surprise, surprise) American who learns that US healthcare companies are only there to make money, US doctors are only there to make money and US hospitals are, well, have a guess.

Michael, then goes off to Canada to see how their backward neighbours do things, and is rather surprised to find that their healthcare is absolutely free! "An anomaly", he thinks.

So he heads off to the UK to see how the US's cousin goes about things. Again, the government seemingly cares about its citizens and only charges just over 6 quid for ANY amount of medication one may need. How bizarre! Surely the doctors must be living on the poverty line. Not so. UK doctors get a decent wage and furthermore, get bonuses for improving the health of their patients. Too sensible by far for the Soviet American Union.

In France Michael loses all grip on reality when he meets some patriotic American brothers & sisters. Strangely, for a brotherhood of patriots, none of them want to leave France as the living standard far exceeds the good ole' US of A.

I was expecting the movie to end with Michael's head exploding, but it wasn't to be. Luckily, this movie is pure fiction as the world's greatest country couldn't possible be that backward. Nice try Mr Moore!

My understanding about NHS in the UK is only the poor rely on it. Most wage earners wouldn't use it for a mole removal.

It had the dad out of The Hills Have Eyes in it and Hoppa was good, you could tell he loved the role.

I hated the scene where he lets the lamb chops go to waste.

i'm from a very middle class area and never have I once met anybody that used a private service.

doubtless they exist, but it's the elite, the super wealthy.

I'm not sure where you'd have got those impressions though.

I don't pretend to speak for Chinthee but it does seem to be a common impression amongst Americans I know - this idea that because it is free (or close to it) then it can't be any good.

Similiar if you like to the perception a lot of foreigners have of the health care in Thailand.

Sorry, I will always question the level of care at state-paid for health facilities.

I've certainly got no complaints but - touch wood - my only experience of it to date have been for relatively trivial things.

no idea about percentages chintee, but the average doctor earns around 100,000 pounds a year, this aint no pro bono thingy.
it's a genuinely good health service with outstanding doctors.

I'm guessing that over 90% are British born.
