I must watch Tau seeing as obo and barry are at odds. Will report later. I'll try to restrain the hyperbole. Liked buster scruggs and the second one about the Luigi like guy getting hung. Thought the Liam Neeson one was shite. The prospector was good also.

    Robin Hood

This is not a tale of Robin and his Merrie Men sitting around in a tree, with Maid Marion on Robin's knee, Fol-De-Rolling or Morris Dancing.
It's a grittier, harder version of the tale.
Beginning with an action-packed battle between Crusaders and Muslim forces in Arabia, (Robin drafted into the crusading forces), the scene is set for the action to come.

Great sets and scenery in the movie.
Robin goes into intense training from a Moorish warrior (Jamie Foxx), and they both decide to rob the evil and treacherous Sherriff of Nottingham of his loot.
Needless to say, The Sheriffs loot is well guarded.
It's hardly Ocean's 11 in it's plotting of the main heist, but ok.

But, there was very little by way of character development.
Taron Egerton as Robin was neither likeable nor dislikeable, just adequate.
Tim Minchin as Friar Tuck was nearly amusing, but not quite.

All in all, a quite good action/adventure movie which I'd give a quite good 6.5/10

Not really set up that well for inconspicuous coupling, given the dividers but it could explain why the Tom kept crawling over to see if we needed anything...

BlackkKlansman (2018) Directed by Spike Lee

Spike Lee is angry. The subject of his anger is racism. A theme that has not changed in his movies since Do The Right Thing. This movie, based upon a true story, is about a black cop who infiltrates the KKK and ends up thwarting the murder of a black activist. Lee can be faulted here for getting lost between character stereotypes and attempts at humor that both fall flat.

On a personal note I met Spike Lee once at a business meeting. I was struck by the hostile way he presented himself. His movies always seem one dimensional to me which is probably influenced by my negative personal impression of him.

    6/10

It was shit, I think recommended by Harry here for sure, Chinese production of American A-List actors with a mix of typical Hollywood bullshit and HK style fighting

    the worst of both world,

Mark Wahlberg performance was particularly crap and unconvincing, which takes another level of mediocrity for that guy

The title maybe refers to the Roma district in Mexico City (a district designated by the city as a "Barrio Magico" magical neighbourhood) .

I felt the director tried a bit too hard to be artsy, to the point of boredom. The opening scene, for instance with the water over the cobbles...it went on for an eternity; get the point, man! It also digressed on odd things, like the little boy's "When I was old" meme.
Yes, I saw the Thai analogy very clearly, and having also just watched a Mexican prison series, that showed violence amongst the peasants and corruption amongst officials, the parallels were stark.

"Bad Times at the El Royale".
Review the last film you watched-el-royale-jpg

Jeff Bridges heads a great cast in a weird, enjoyable (but overlong) popcorn thriller.
Several guests, all with disturbing pasts convene at a strange, grand old hotel in the middle of nowhere, set in the late '60's.
Sometimes brutal, funny, and a bit daft, tbh. But enjoyable performances from a very good cast, headed by Bridges who is always worth watching.
Could have been trimmed in at less than 140 minutes, but still a solid 8/10 for me.
