    Blood Diamond, 8.5/10

This is enjoyable viewing. It's set In Sierra Leone during the civil war. The star of the show is a large diamond, hidden by a rebel conscripted slave labourer. Leo de Caprio plays a jaded mercenary, archetypal 'brooding hero with the dark past who finds redemption' character. The love interest is provided by an idealistic reporter, out to cure the evils of the world. The subplot and social conscience is provided by the slave labourer and diamond hider, who's family has been kidnapped by those wicked rebels. So the scene is set, all amidst the backdrop of Africa, civil war, mercenaries and conflict diamond trading.

Featuring a happy ending, surprise surprise, but perhaps not the same as you might guess. Takes a swipe at the diamond trade and it's ethics, whilst assidously avoiding any mention of the Jooish domination of it- rather it's all sinister Sth Africans with Boer names and clipped accent, effete London businessmen. But this is Hollywood, after all.

If you enjoyed 'The Last King of Scotland' I reckon you'll enjoy this one also.

Mr. Bean's Holiday - 2/10 I've come to the conclusion that too much Bean is bad. Sum up the plot - Bean's antics make a lad's father miss a train to Caan which has his son aboard, so Bean decides to get the boy back to his father.

Cherry Crush - 7/10 A seventeen-year-old photographer gets caught up in murder when he breaks his own rules and falls in love with one of his teenage models. Didnt know what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised.

I never liked The Last Kind of Scotland much.

5/10 - The book was a lot more enjoyable.

BH - My movie reviewing skills are fine. I can't remember peoples names or much about plots but I always remember if I liked it or not

I guess it would be nice if you'd throw in a brief plot summary and maybe mention the genre; you know, comedy, action, adventure, romance, mystery, etc.

    The Simpsons Movie

    The Simpsons Movie (2007)

As a old school Simpsons fan, I was VERY PLEASED with this movie! When I say old school fan, I mean I've been a fan of the Simpsons for 14+ years, but the last 4 seasons have been pretty disappointing for me, so I'm more of a fan of the older episodes.

The plot, animation & jokes were SOLID as hell! I was laughing for most of the 87 minutes! It was a typical Simpsons formula: 1st 1/3 was balls to the wall jokes, 2nd 1/3 Homer goofs up, & the last 1/3 the Simpsons resolve Homers blunder in their own unique way. But even with this obvious structure the jokes & characters carried this movie along nicely.

I would give this movie 4/4 stars. I recommend it HIGHLY to any who likes the Simpsons even a little. It was well worth the wait for this movie to come out!

    Nope got to disagree.

It was as poor as the last few seasons. Jokes were crap.Plot was crap.

    Not worth paying for.

    The number 23 (2007)

If you haven't seen this Jim Carey movie yet, i highly recommend that you don't waste nearly 2 hours of your life on this turgid drivel, masquerading as some sort of paranormal thriller.
    It's truly awful.
Carey plays a man whose life is driven wild with his obsession that the number 23 is somehow controlling his life.
The movie takes us from such wonders as "I was born on 14 of the 9th..guess what 23".

"it's fate" and guess what the letters of the word "fate add up to 32.. 23 backwards... shock horror......"
and guess how many pairs of shoes his wife has....
    anyway, you get the picture.

It's terrible when comedians get acting pretensions and try serious movies. Eddie Murphy and Jim Carrey have done it with terrible results. Robin Williams is the only one I can think of who passed it off succesfully.

Actually, carey was outstanding in Eternal Sunshine of the Sotless Mind.
i think he proved in that one that he does have ability.

the material in 23 was better served for a spoof comedy though.

Eternal Sunshine is a GREAT movie, but my favorite Jim Carey movie by far is the Truman Show. I've seen that movie over 15 times, & still love it!

    The War Tapes

a documentary style movie done by actual members of the new hampshire national guard who were sent to Iraq to fight for the oil. i thought it was relatively well balanced with good commentary throughout by the soldiers. harrowing in parts...but real and good to see.
    What if?

I watched a UK TV series called Provos, Rebuclicans and Brits - Three part one hour 30 minute documentary on Northern Ireland and it's history.

    Very interesting 9/10

Also finished watching Invasion - 12 part US series about aliens. Really well made very enjoyable and kept you guessing. The missus loved it and asked many questions throughout the episode (this is always a good sign)

    8/10

Police Acadamy 1 - Had it on the HDD, watched it and loved it again. Can't beat politically incorrecy 8's comedy.

    De Ja Vu

Can't remember the black guys name who is the main actor. Same man who was in Man on Fire.

A bomb kills a boat of soldiers. Black dude is the ATF agent investigating it. Somewhere along the way a secret goverment agency is discovered that has made some sort of machine that sees back in time to the crime.

    Actually a decent watch.

    7/10

Yeah, I saw that one a couple of days ago. Denzel Washington is the bloke. Not a bad flick. I agree with the 7/10.

Bourne Ultimatum - 6/10 I was dizzy from all the chases. Not sure I like the shakey camera style - felt dizzy watching it. Anyways - Bourne is back again - criss crossing the world to find out who he is.
