Hope the trend for more of these R-rated action films continue. I'd give it a solid 8.5 / 10 points.

I very nearly did the same thing. Glad I stayed the course. 7.5 from me.

I give it a 9.89/10 but I'm a Deadpool fanboy from way back though so my view is highly prejudiced.

I like Ryan Reynolds, though his voice gets to me like fingernails on a chalkboard sometimes. And I'll go with the flow on this one. Original sound track helps score. Had Russian, Greek or some shit subtitles too, hahaha.

I watched "The Trust" last night, starring Nicolas Cage - either it went right over my head? or it was crap!
Watchable but far from brilliant, Cage has the skills to portray some great characters, leaving Los Vegas being a classic, but the character he portrays in this????

It was a tough one to assign a numerical rating. I kept bouncing back and forth between 3.5 and 4. Cage was awful; his co-star worse. The movie was abysmal.

I have watched this again and I like it even more but I will stick with 8/10

I don't think you can get all the detail in one viewing.

The look and feel of the whole thing seems to recall the 1st series much better than any of the second series episodes ever did.

I especially like that they have eschewed CGI for the most part.

Most of the creatures are animatronic which I think gives them a different aesthetic to something that has just been generated with pixels and this is part of what gives it that authentic connection with the original movies where the creatures were all puppets.

Even BB8 the little football robot is entirely hand driven animatronic which is why his movements seem so natural I think.

I like how they have used the same actors even inside the suits like for Chewbacca and C3PO.

The woman stormtrooper boss was a bit grating the first time but since I found out that it is Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones) I don't mind so much.

But did you pick up what I did on second viewing?

It looked like 3 or 4 First Order fighters got up to warp speed along with the Millennium Falcon and barely escaped the implosion of the Death Star leading to my speculation that Kylo Ren (Hans Solo's son) escaped on one of them (that is, Adam Driver was as good as a bad guy can get so it looks to me like he'll be back in the next episode).

General Leia (Princess to you) looks to be returning as the leader of the resistance. So I'm left wondering if Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamil) will initiate Rey (Daisy Ridley) into the Jedi.

What other plot points have I missed?

I watched it tonight too - it started so well in the first few seconds, but went downhill from there. It certainly wasn't good, but wasn't bad per se, just a non-event. Poor story, average characters, no plot development... I might give it 5/10.

Bone Tomahawk

Strange kind of western involving a rescue mission against a rather ghoulish tribe of Indians.

The cast includes Kurt Russell and the cop from Fargo Season 2 and also the badass injun from Fargo 2

Mildly diverting characters and events and occasionally hideously gory the whole thing has an oddly half baked feel.

6/10

Outstanding movie. Fantastic dialogue and lots of nasty stuff.

Great cast and very good acting.

Not for the faint hearted though.
