^He was in a great psychological thriller, but I can't remember the name. He played a fag sort of guy, lived in a big house, I think he was a writer of some type. A young kid breaks in, seem to remember something about the kid doing his wife (?). Then he plays mind games with this kid. Really good. As you can tell, it's been years since I watched it, but I remember how great it was.

i'll have a watch if so- got a good rating: Sleuth (1972) - IMDb

    dont think it is though....

    The Man Who Wasn't There

A "Film Noir" from the Coen brothers, well black and white anyway about a barber (Billy Bob Thornton) leading a very dull life and shackled to the wife from hell, who decides to take a risk and invest 10,000 dollars in a dry cleaning business. What follows is totally out of his control.

Kind of like watching a blind man trying to cross a busy motorway. I enjoyed it though it's one of the few movies around where every character is totally unsympathetic. Also stars James Gandolfini and Scarlett Johansson.

    6/10

Just this minute finished "Trespass", starring Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman. Really good. Not quite up there with my favorite Cage role in "Leaving Las Vegas", but close. 9/10. Cage and Kidman and their kid deal with a home invasion gone horribly wrong.

You sure? It's Nicholas Cage after all, the actor who can't act.

^I like him - not in everything, but when he's good, he's very good. Kind of a deadpan actor, but in some movies, that works.

It all depends on whether Nicholas Cage can be arsed to be in the film or not. In a lot of films he can't and therefore he's poor. Really like some of his early stuff (Raising Arizona, Wild at Heart) plus his action phase (Con Air, The Rock, Face off) Leaving Las Vegas was about that time too. Since then only really enjoyed Bad Lieutenant. Will give Trespass a go - cheers.

"Gil and Inez travel to Paris as a tag-along vacation on her parents' business trip. Gil is a successful Hollywood writer but is struggling on his first novel. He falls in love with the city and thinks they should move there after they get married, but Inez does not share his romantic notions of the city or the idea that the 1920s was the golden age. When Inez goes off dancing with her friends, Gil takes a walk at midnight and discovers what could be the ultimate source of inspiration for writing. Gil's daily walks at midnight in Paris could take him closer to the heart of the city but further from the woman he's about to marry."

Starts as a cheesy american in Paris movie but develops when Gil starts his nightly walks alone and meets some amazing Parisians. 8/10

'Secret Window' (2004) with Johnny Depp. I quite enjoyed this dark thriller. I think Depp has matured into quite a good character actor. I won't get into the plot, so as not to be a spoiler, but it has some nice twists. 7/10.

    I know what you mean.

If you actually watch it, and then comment, you will have more credence.

The film goes on to explore the ramifications on one own life when confronted with the meeting of ones idols. As an example if one is a budding writer and one were offered a chance, in this american scenario, of meeting Hemmingway and Scott Fitzgerald, one would creams ones pants. This guy has this plus more and it changes his attitude to many things.

The exploration of time travel, exotic Paris and the futility of modern values will no doubt catch your attention, or not.

To all those not so myopic, Woody has produced a fine film.

It's been a busy day on the armstrong house so I watched 3 movies....

'Cass' it's about a guy, called Cass amazingly enough. growing up in West Ham, London and being a football hooligan. true (ish I suspect) story.

'Freerunner' one of the worst movies I ever saw. the acting, the script, the SFX, everything is shite. embarrassingly shite, they use every cheesy line they can possible think of and have horribly stolen ideas from all the good action movies but amazingly manged to make them so absoloutly wank that it became unwatchable. I didn't finish it. I just had to delete this pathetic piece of crap off my HDD as soon as I could. there is no redeeming features for this at all. avoid at all costs.

'Rise of the foot soldier' - another 'true' story about a guy from West Ham that was a football hooligan. a part of the infamous Essex gang shootings. nothing new and exciting but an OK watch.
