WARNING! Avoid This movie like the plague!

Sadly I wasted valuable resources downloading a movie that for whatever reason, I expected to be something else (I thought it was a new release that I had seen trailers for in the movies)

How disappointed I was - Actually it is worth watching just to appreciate how bad a movie can get, despite computer graphics and special effects.

2012 Supernova - must be the most pathetic piece of junk I have seen in years, apparently it was made in 2009!

Probably on a budget of 20 Baht. Woe betide anyone who spends good money to watch this crap at the movies.

The "nutty" (as in squirrel shit) scientist is drop dead ringer for BORAT!

Who on earth would invest in making something like this? Did they think it was even entertaining?

Imagine putting up a million dollars (or 20 baht) to this production - and seeing the finished accomplishment??? You would need hospital attention.

How do I download movies? I seem to have u-torrent installed, but don't know how to do the rest.

Yes, I am stupid. But if someone could explain - in kiddy talk how to do it, would be much appreciated!! And how do you choose which version of a film to watch?

And, no, I do not want to watch 2012 Supernova. I want to watch Marley and Me. And my DVD player is broken. But I recently bought a new ink cartridge for my printer so, I could print the instructions in great big letters to stick on the wall.

Thank you to anyone who can take the time to write that out for me!!!

Interesting...I wouldn't describe the movie as intense, more like gripping and melancholy. It's certainly not a movie that's easily forgotten.

Don't know if it has been reviewed prviously or not but

    THE DAMNED UNITED

Outstanding film about an outstanding man
Michael Sheen has Brian Clough down to a tee.
A must for any football fan regardless of what club you support.

Well, another great waste of effort is Paranormal Avtivity, it is in the same vain as that Blair witch Crap.
Apparently, it cost somewhere between 15,000 - 20,000 dollars to make. It is all shot on a hand held video recorder, so how it would cost more than 20,000 LIRA / Ruppees, beats me! (probably 50 dollars for the hire of the hire of the camera, another 10 bucks for the tape, 200 bucks for the actors, another couple of cents for the editing, and the rest probably went on food and parties!)

I mean, what is the point? Once you know it is not a true or factual based movie, why on earth would anyone want to watch a movie with no special effects, produced like a home video...maybe it's just me as I see it has had extremely good reviews by some movie "critics".

I just couldn't see the point of watching it, a pile of crap.

Now, these may not be to everyones' tastes, but have a look at the following movies, personally, I thought they were above average.

    ROLE MODELS
    OBSERVE AND REPORT
    WANTED
    TAKEN

And that line in Taken, where the railway makes so much noise in the morning..."I Like It, It Helps To Drown Out The Sound Of Your annoying fucking Voice" ...perfect!

Streets ahead of what the so called critics have been rating!

another couple, should you get the time watch and enjoy... SE7EN, its not new, nor is the Three Buriuals of Mequiades Estrada - but they are still good movies!

Lastly, it won't be most liberals cup of tea, but try Zeitgheist.

Just watched that and really enjoyed it too. Shame there was nothing about the Forest years, as that the team I remember him from, but at least I was Luton beating Leeds 1 - 0 so it more than made up for it.

I know what you mean but if there was ever a film made about Brian Clough's life it would have to be over 4-5 parts, there is no way in the world that you could cram his whole life into 2-3 hours of one film.
They would lose so much of his personality if they tried to do it in one go

    It's called "Cashing In"

It's called cashing in - in this case on the far bigger upcoming blockbuster "2012" with John Cusack. (Actually it sort of cashes in on Supernova but that was an expensive flop).

This happens all the time, which is why you had "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon"; You had the big budget "Twister" and the poor knockoff "Tornado"; and you had "Dante's Peak" and the even more laughable "Volcano".

If a studio gets a whiff of something big, they will try and copy it, and so will smaller production companies.

Another good example is "The Day The Earth Stood Still", the original of which was cunningly released to coincide with the Keanu vehicle. I wonder how many dumb sh*ts clicked through and bought that on Amazon because they didn't know about the original and just assumed that the title and the "Sci Fi" categorisation meant that they'd bought the new movie.

The first time I can remember this was when I went to rent "The Little Shop of Horrors", which was a new Frank Oz movie in 1986. B*stard tried to fob me off with the 1960 original which had a young Jack Nicholson in one of his early roles.

Not to mention the porno knockoffs: "Harry Frotter", "Forrest Hump", "Everybody Does Raymond", etc.

Regarding "Paranormal Activity" I'm going to watch that tonight. It hit #1 at the US Box Office, although admittedly in a quiet week.

I forgot to mention, if you like well-acted and well-written Thrillers, then you'd be hard pushed not to like "Lucky Number Slevin".

And if you want to see Ben Kingsley at his evil best, then I'd recommend "Sexy Beast".

If you want to see him in a fun little techno-thriller about codebreaking, watch "Sneakers".

None of these are new, but they are all worth watching.

Watched this one this afternoon, couldn't agree with you more.
In fact I'll go a step further and claim that this is the best doco I've ever seen.

Have to admit that I was completely oblivious to this event before I watched the film, so the movie might not be as stunning to those who already know the story of this race.

    Sailing movies and "Paranormal Activity"

The best storm movie was surely "A Perfect Storm" which was based on a true story. Not a documentary per se, but good drama.

Regarding "Paranormal Activity", it's basically another one of these handheld camera bags of shit. For big budget versions you had "Cloverfield", for low budget versions you had "Blair Witch Project".

    This is low budget.

It is utter fucking shit, there is no other way to describe it.

If it frightens you, you're a wuss

    The Fourth Kind

I saw The Fourth Kind this evening and enjoyed it much more than Paranormal Activity though it is the same style of film. It is about alien abduction in Gnome, Alaska and is shot using archived footage from a series of counseling sessions which is probably all fake. Good thriller, but no special effects or anything that would make it any more interesting on the big screen.

New preview for Avatar looks amazing.

    Skeleton Key

Kate Hudson is something nice to look at as this voodoo film goes through it's paces. Not bad.

    Dead Snow

Evil dead II remade in a Norwegian style. It has the requisite cabin in the woods, some (Nazi)zombies, and some chainsaw & shotgun splatter goodness.

Tropa de Elite (Elite Squad) 2008

ELITE SQUAD is an intense and astonishing look at Rio de Janeiro's notorious favelas, the volatile slums on the edge of the city, presenting an intimate look at the city's vast and intricate web of corruption. The elite BOPE force (State Police Special Operations Battalion) combats drug trafficking, keeping order has its price though and their actions make it difficult to distinguish right from wrong and justice from revenge. BOPE Captain Nascimento (Wagner Moura) is facing a crisis: in addition to the pressures of fighting within war zones, the Captain must find and train his own replacement so he can escape the day to day violence and be close to his wife who is about to give birth to their first child. Two of the force's newest recruits, are childhood friends: one is quick on the trigger to maintain order and the other refuses to compromise his ideals. Together they are the perfect replacement. Alone they may not have what it takes to survive.
