Pirates Of Silicon Valley
I thought I might enjoy this as it was about Bill Gates/Steve Jobs/Apple/Microsoft but I didnt really. Made an interesting story into a boring film. No idea why its got a decent rating on IMDB
The Fan Boys:
Road trip kinda movie about a group of nerds trying to steel a rough cut version of Star Wars Episode One.
There were funny moments but its not a great watch. There were no boobs, unlike the IMDB screen shots promised but I suppose it waisted a few hours on a Sunday morning. 4/10
Lesbian Vampire Killers:
2 of my favourite things, Lesbians and Vampires. Some pretty funny moments in a British, Shawn of the Dead style movie. Loads of hot lesbian vampires and a lot more boobs that the first one. 6.5/10
Night At The Museum 2 - Ben Stiller
I downloaded this for something to watch with the boy as he's a bit ill. Ben Stiller seems to only have one style of delivery which gets boring after a few of his films. We both agreed to turn it off at about an hour, I wasn't interested and he was getting bored of it.
The Geek Shall Inherit The Earth
Shooting Dogs (2005)
It's 1994 in Rwanda and the genocide is just kicking off. A Catholic priest (John Hurt) runs a school where an English teacher (Hugh Dancy) is helping to educate the local children. When the Hutu militias start butchering the Tutsi's, the UN peacekeeping force uses the school's grounds to set up base, and thousands of the terrified Tutsi arrive seeking protection. The UN peacekeeping force have a mandate that prevents them from intervening in the slaughter taking place outside the school, and John and Hugh move between trying to help the locals, attempting to convince the UN force to be more active in their protection of the people, and getting a BBC film crew to record the reality of what is happening to hopefully spur worldwide outrage and an intervention before it is too late.
Based on a true story and filmed at the actual location where the events took place, with some of the survivors in the cast and production crew. It was good, but of course a little harrowing.
7/10
Stone of Destiny,
Story about a group of Scottish students trying to recover the Stone of Destiny from Westminster Abbey set in the late 50's.
Not sure if its a true story or not, I'd have to google it. Watch able movie and probably a feel good movie if you Scottish, so ET would enjoy it.
6/10
this was semi interesting watch - it would have been utterly boring to most if it had showed the massive amount of time that is spent getting software to execute like you want it to on hacked together hardware - or the joy and sense of accomplishment that comes from getting all your electrons marching to your tune.Originally Posted by melvbot
I wonder how accurate the indication of exactly who were the tech people in the whole cast - woz , gates and allen ?
apple as a religion is true though.
If you torture data for enough time , you can get it to say what you want.
Bronson
The story of Charles Bronson, Britains most dangerous prisoner. Mad film, the guy is an absolute lunatic but the film was mediocre. I guess it is wrong to glorify violence in film, but everyone likes a good scrap right?
Driven to Kill
Latest offering from Steven Seagal, it nearly drove me to kill myself, absolute toss, but then again, what did I expect?
My bad, I shall retract my generous offer and stop seeding immediately! Screw Ya.Originally Posted by tjyflhol

Gomorra [2008]
DVDR
Set in Napoli's infamous Scampia slums and based on a fictional and non-fictional book by Roberto Saviano on the Camorra, Napoli's own version of the Mafia.
The film focusses on five separate and sometimes intertwining stories of the Camorra, from a young new recruit called Toto to an elderly money-collector called Don Ciro, as they try to survive in one of Europe's deadliest impoverished areas.
I believe about 4000 people have died in the Scampia region from Comorra related activity within the last decade, and this film is shot on site. It is sometimes disturbing, but compelling, and doesn't dilute the criminality of the mafia as Hollywood has done over the years. Don't expect elderly Dons puffing cigars and giving orders for a hit, this is a nitty and gritty look at things on street level.
I highly recommend this one. One of the best films you'll see this year.

Mortals you defy the Gods, I sentence you to travel among unknown stars, until you find the Kingdom of Hades, your bodies will stay as lifeless as stone.
Transformers 2. Nubile starlet Megan Fox parades around in skin tight clothes (a little 'transformation' in my pants). Other than that- way way too long. Just under three hours with the 20 commercials + 20 previews + songs for national unity and numero neuve.
Two thumbs up from the kids, two thumbs down from the adults
Pirates of Silicon Valley.
Already reviewed. I found it a little confusing at the start. The characters weren't introduced properly and they're all named Steve.
Apart from Bill Gates, instantly recognizable by the glasses.
Anyway, soon figured out it was two seperate storylines following the founders of Apple & Microsoft from University to ultimate success by stealing other peoples ideas.
I found it entertaining. But I'm a bit of a geek.

^ do you have a good torrent link for it ?

I think that was the one I downloaded. There's another with exactly the same name, but this one has more seeds.
Another good one for outlining the extent of the atrocities in Rwanda is the following that i watched the other day -
Sometimes In April (2005)
The film begins ten years after the slaughter with Augustin (Idris Elba), now a school teacher in Rwanda, receiving a request from his brother Honore who he has not seen since the outbreak of the genocide, to visit him in Tanzania where he is about to stand trial for his part in it all. Honore wants to tell him what happened to his wife and children the day he took them to escape the killings in Kigali.
Cue flashbacks that show us the build up to the horrific affair, and then Augustin's attempts to get himself, his family, and friends to safety as the situation escalates. Augustin, a captain in the Rwandan army, and his brother are Hutu's, but he is married and has children with a Tutsi woman, which places him on a death list of known Tutsi sympathisers.
The film moves backwards and forwards between the genocide and Augustin's trip to see his imprisoned brother in Tanzania, before he eventually comes face to face with Honore and the truth that he is finally ready to hear.
I would say this film deals with the genocide, it's circumstances, and what conditions were like during it, in more depth than Hotel Rwanda or Shooting Dogs.
It was good, well worth watching.

Directed by Armando Iannucci
Lots of sweary bits in this so not one for the kiddies. Shot documentary style like The Office. The film is an extension of the UK tv series but Ive never seen any of it. Satirical stuff based on a fictional bunch of politicians who get caught up in an international incident which could end up as a war.
Funny at times, if you like The Office, Brass Eye, The Day Today sort of stuff you should enjoy it.
I think it was around 1h 45 mins.
finally got to watch that one, I really enjoyed it, and got all the characters right awayOriginally Posted by Plan B
Steve Jobs is portrayed as an absolute lunatic, mad. Bill as a total stuck up loser geek. Not sure how all of it is accurate. Could see how their hatred of each other started, bunch of kids in school yard.
I can't believe how quickly successful Steve Jobs became despite being a total hippie loser. Felt like the beginning of the dot boom, same mentality.
Good performance by all the actors, almost felt like a mock documentary at times.
^ I watched it yesterday, as well.
I agree that Jobs came across as an absolute nutcase. No wonder Apple products are all show and no go.
