Yup.
Hilarious isn't it.
That one and Pan's Labyrinth are the only must see's I have seen this year.

Last Days. This is film based on the last days of Kurt Cobain....'inspired by' I think the term used is. A strange film in that nothing at all appears to happen throughout it - pretty much nothing happens. The strange thing is that I enjoyed it, or was at least intrigued by it. There was a long scene in which the Blake (Kurt) character did nothing but wrap his arms around his head and slowly fall to the floor to lay there motionless....I don't think that I have ever related to any film scene more than I did to this one.
Back off Margaret, you're on a sugar rush!
Borat is funny, but i think that "Hot Fuzz" is funnier
You can watch it here TV Links
Went to see Sunshine yesterday, as I had nothing to do, and thought it might be the only movie that wouldn't send me to sleep.
Actually, it's not that bad. It's a sci-fi story about having to restart nuclear fusion in the sun to rekindle its energy. All a bit far fetched, but the visuals, especially the close ups of the sun, were pretty spectacular. It reminded me a little of Event Horizon, so if you enjoyed that one, you'd probably like Sunshine, though its not quite in the same 'splatter league'. The acting and dialogue are nothing to write home about, it's much more about being a visual feast, and some slightly uneasy moments when people keep dying.
A 3/5 from me.
The truth is out there, but then I'm stuck in here.
I watched Casino Royale last night, it was pretty good although the story line was pretty weak, plus the new James Bond seems a bit uncultured, I suppose it's so the chavs can watch the film aswell, anyway much better than the original one which basically had no plot and was played by some wnker nobody had ever heard of before, worth watching if you aint paying for it
The last movie I watched was "Little Miss Sunshine". I'm fairly sure that this is unrelated to Wallace's "Sunshine", despite the similarities of title.Originally Posted by Wallace
"Little Miss Sunshine" is whacky movie with lots of unexpected plot twists and some great comic moments as well as a slough of decent acting. The ending leaves a bit to be desired, but if you think about it, how would you end it? Upbeat? Depressing? Perhaps the slapstick comedy was the only way to go.
I have heard a lot about that movie, need to give it a try. Will rent it.Originally Posted by Anonymous Coward
I enjoyed this Bond film. I thought that the action sequences where excellent. As for Daniel Craig, I saw him in the film Layered Cake and I thought that he acted like a wooden spoon; he seemed okay in this. I liked Pierce Brosnan as Bond. I fancied him a little bit if the truth be known....in a straight, macho way of course.
Don't lie, you are a closet homo. Anyone who fancy Pierce Brosnan as Bond must be a raving queenOriginally Posted by danbo
I thought that Pierce was v.good in 'The Tailor of Panama', a film I very much enjoyed - a wonderful performance from Geoffrey Rush. I gave up on 'The Matador' though.
Last night I watched 'The Proposition'.
The Proposition (2005)
Set in in a primitive lawless Australia where the the both the police and the criminals ply their trade with savagery (1970s?).
The screenplay (and soundtrack) was by Nick Cave and the cast included Guy Pearce and Ray Winstone with a cameo by John Hurt.
The story is not is not original - Criminal brothers for and against each other. But it is not stale. There is also the tale of the unenviable lot of a newly 'imported' Police Captain in an outback land.
When I read about it on IMDB I thought (and worried) that it was going to be a gore-fest, but I never found it that violent - maybe it was cut down for DVD release. What nastiness was there was authentic looking, but not gratuitous.
Overall I thought that it was excellent and would recommend it - Think Ned Kelly, think gritty 'Western' - 4/5
I watched The Proposition a while back. The story seems to take second place to the country which is awesome.
Last movie I watched was Apocolypto. Not bad the plot is as follows - laugh, fight, kill, run kill, run kill, run, kill. A major gorefest as they say.
Just finished this spectacular series from BBC. If you like the ancients and history, along with the tie-in to major myths this is for you. 4 segments narrated by James Wood. Really excellent photography, a travelog like you've never seen.
Although not a movie, it struck me as a 'must see' if your into myths and legends. He ties in known fact and locations to how the myths could have been based on history.
The series takes you places you've most likely never seen. Truly and outstanding piece of work. Available on digitaldistractions.org

We watched an interesting movie called Harsh Times, starring Christian Bale. It's about an ex-Ranger who heads back to his hometown (LA) and is trying to get a job with the LAPD, and then Homeland Security. The problem is that he's got an anger management problem which means he gets into a few scrapes, dragging his bro' into them with him.
Christian Bale is always a very intense actor and I've enjoyed all of his movies that I've seen. I would recommend this one too, as it is an interesting story, and I especially enjoyed the beautiful scenery from the scenes shot in Mexico.

Battlefield Earth
I haven't watched that one for a long time. Despite the hype surrounding the movie because of the Scientology connection, I found the movie highly amusing and entertaining. A good watch. The public can be so stupid when it comes to boycott things.
Hotel Rwanda
Almost missed that one. Very good. A must see. A true story.
A truly aweful movie, worth watching as it is really so badOriginally Posted by Butterfly
Hollywoodland - true story surrounding the supposed suicide of George Reeves, AKA Superman. Very well done and one of the better Ben Affleck movies I've seen.

"Synopsis
Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence and William H. Macy hit the road in this rollicking comedy-adventure about a group of middle-aged friends who decide to rev up their routine suburban lives with a freewheeling motorcycle trip. Taking a long dreamed-of breather from their stressful jobs and family responsibilities, they can’t wait to feel the freedom of the open road. When this mis-matched foursome, who have grown far more used to the couch than the saddle, set out for this once-in-a-lifetime experience - they encounter a world that holds far more than they ever bargained for. The trip begins to challenge their wits and their luck, especially during a chance run-in with the Del Fuegos, a real-life biker gang who are less than amused with their novice approach. As they go looking for adventure, they soon find that they’ve embarked on a journey they will never forget."
There were a fair amount of laughs and as usual my wife made us all cringe by laughing so loud and at every opportunity.
I guess the actors are the draw to the movie as the story itself is almost non-existent. 4 middle aged guys go on a road trip - with hiliarious consequences.
Its a bit like a Disney movie at times, but then has some unnecessary sexual references and homophobia included. Not much but just enough to make me slightly regret bringing my kids to watch it.
My rating 3/5.
Well I watched the Firewall last night, probably Harrison Fords worst film, if I was in the UK and had bought it for some astronomical amount of money I would have been quite upset.
I agree, good movie but Hugo Weaving was wasted in it as you never see his face.
I am not into horror but recently saw The Hills Have Eyes and was impressed as I was shocked and afraid for the believable characters in the story. The good acting and character development made you care for them which is what makes the whole movie work.
It's a horrible movie, but that is what horror should be - it wasn't too far fetched either, the idea of secret mutants living and breeding in the desert.
I give it 9/10 or 4.5/5 for its genre.
